Need help getting my A4000 online using Virgin Media
Okay i'm using my A4000 with a X-Surf-100 (so it's a wired connection) and have installed EasyNet.
At first it was a struggle and nothing would work but eventually with some help from HydroUK in #amiga on efnet it is eventually sort of working. Here is what I can do: Ping my router Ping sites on the internet Login and download from Aminet ftp Ping the Amiga from my PC Also EasyNet updated itself which I assume was via FTP as well What I can't do is access the www and I can't connect to IRC (not sure if there is anything else to do on the net with the Amiga but these are the main problems). My settings are: Amiga IP: 192.168.0.254 Network Mask: 255.255.255.0 Network Domain Name: virginm.net (not sure about this?) Gateway IP: 192.168.0.1 Primary DNS: 194.168.4.100 Secondary DNS: 194.168.8.100 So like I said pinging stuff works fine and I can access FTP's using AmiFTP so it seems like the networking bit is right but why can't I surf the net and connect to IRC? Can someone see what I am doing wrong? It must be close to being fully working and it's annoying me I can't work out what is wrong. Help please! Further info: For some reason now when I click go online in EasyNet it still connects but I get this output: [CLI 8] loopback: bad value Missing ELSE or ENDIF IF failed returncode 10 [CLI 9] |

Might be some problems with your DNS addresses or reachability.
Try changing the DNS numbers to these Google ones: 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Try to ping google.com and see if it works. There might be a problem with some script, that is why you getting errors. Personally I don't own Easy Net, but I think it works in conjunction with AmiTCP, which I'm more familiar with. |

That helped changing to those DNS ip's I can now load websites (EAB, Aminet and Google all tested). Still can't connect to IRC though I think it might be a problem with the set up in the program though. It is complaining that it cannot open a TCP/IP stack, but AmiTCP is clearly running as everything else is using it. Have you got any ideas on that one?
