Thanks, I'm on my way, but it's hard (too much pain)...

I don't know about fat95, but it should be the same. I've tested it on an A600, so it's pretty much like an A500+ (1Mb chip), and it works well. The only difference is the WB version (2.04?). No idea what's happening there. Sometimes the initialization fails (not in the driver, but on the VNC1L controller) and it seems to hang. Just unplug and plug the usb device again and it should work. I'm still working on it. |

VDIP1 and VDIP2 are both based on the same controller, the VNC1L, so the short answer is yes.
The difference between them is that VDIP2 provides some spare I/O pins (not used in this project), and a second USB plug is mounted on the module, but my design also have the option of using the second USB port, just populate the board with two capacitors and the connector needed (see the readme file). Also VDIP1 is cheaper than VDP2... |

I quickly threw together mine today using some veroboard, and regret to say that it crashes when using kickstart 3.1 (((
It works if I stick a 1.3 rom into the A500+, boot a WB1.3 disk and use the included mount list and device driver, and fat95 from aminet. I was able to copy files to it, and run programs from the stick, which was previously FAT formatted on a PC. But if I use 3.1 rom in the same machine, and boot the same WB1.3 disk, the system freezes when trying to access the stick. Same happens when trying to mount it using a WB3.1 boot disk. This is a totally unexpanded A500+ (1MB chip). Really hope it can be fixed to run on WB3.1, this is a really cool device! |

Tested with kick 2.04 on the same A500+ today, fails as well.
I can mount it, but the driver is not loaded until I do a dir usb0:, and as with 3.1, then the activity led flashes for a while, then led is continously lit and the system freezes. |

So it seems to be a problem with driver?
I tested on my A1200 and it freezes all the time, if i activate USB0. Oh btw.: |

As far as I know if the driver works on 1.3 it should work on any other version of the operating system... By other way, I have to fix some issues with the initialization procedure. Sometimes the VNC1L fifo stalls and it's hard to make it work again. But don't give up, I'm still working on it P.S.: Remember that I'm still learning how to code for Amiga computers :P |

Is there any way we can assist in finding what the problem with newer kickstart is?
I could send you a Kick 3.1 ROM to test in your A500 if needed. Anyway, I always wanted the USB adapter to be as small as possible, so I crammed it into a regular DSUB shell. It gets power from the RGB output as it is not in use (using Indivision instead): |

I have tested on my A600 with Kick1.3 and WB1.3, but it will not work for me.
Adapter itself seems to be ok, have tested every wire connection on it. |

having only looked at it briefly, have you connected pin 3 of U2 to pin 19 of the module through 1K resistor? if you did, it does not show well in the layered pcb screenshot.

Have it fixed with a wire for testing. On A1200 i can load the driver, but if i will change to USB0: (shell) the LED are flashing and then freezes the amiga. On a600 (Kick1.3) it will not work. |
