8mb RAM Expansion won't WHDLoad any games!
Hey guys, now I have this 8mb SIMM installed in my accelerator I can't get any of my WHDLoad games to work anymore TestDrive2 and MonkeyIsland2 give 'DOS-Error #235 (bad loadfile hunk)' errors, and Turrican3 gives me a 'slave is illegal' error.
What's going on now? For reference, they all worked fine when I had a 4mb SIMM in it 20 minutes ago! ADD: Further inspection with MemTEST revealed a whole load (probably every address) of errors, with the card set to both 8mb and 4mb. Switching back to the 4mb SIMM solved it... so I guess the 8mb SIMM is a dud Last edited by Nipedley; 16 February 2009 at 03:14. |

It's the Marpet M1207, at first glance it appeared to be the Amitek Hawk. I just tried Memtest on my 4mb SIMM and that gives a ton of errors as well, even though it works fine ??? Playing monkey island 2 as we speak!
Confused! ADD: More further inspection reveals Memtest errors to be after 0060000, where my 4mb ram addresses only up to 5fffff. Maybe memtest is trying to test ram addresses that dont exist? This might be the case with the 8mb as well. But if that is so, why wont it play any WHDLoad games :S Arr, this is why I refused to go into a technical profession Last edited by Nipedley; 16 February 2009 at 12:51. |

<br /> Because WHDLoad allocates its memory in reverse by default. There is the 'NoMemReverse' switch which turns off this feature which you can also make permanent by editing the WHDLoad.prefs file. See here: http://www.whdload.de/docs/en/opt.html#NoMemReverse |

Do you have anything installed in the PCMCIA slot? Many trapdoor expansions does not support more than 4MB when PCMCIA is used since it occupies the same memory space.
