PCMCIA Networkcard issues

Hi all,

I bought a 3C589 card for the amiga it did come with a floppy with drivers and a cardreset program but how to use? How to set IP, etc.???

I would like to make it connect to my Windows 2003 Server so that I can copy the TOSEC files more easy

So if anybody has any idea how to get it working I would love some help with it....

Greets,

download and install the 3c589.device driver from aminet

download and install amitcp4.0 demo version from aminet. ip and everything is is set while installing.

copy cardreset and cardpatch commands (aminet) to your c: folder and add those commands to your s:user-startup

DON´T FORGET TO CHECK ROUTER AND FIREWALL RULES!!!

for transfer try cloanto´s amiga explorer which has to be installed and set up on both sides.

best regards!

If it did not even come with instructions or installer script, then this obviously was a rip-off, because those network cards are standard and all the software can be downloaded for free. The only reason to label this as a "package for Amiga" would be to supply a detailed manual and/or a comfortable installation script.

For TCP/IP stack i would recomend:

Download miami demo from Aminet:
http://de5.aminet.net/comm/tcp/MiamiDx10cmain.lha
http://de5.aminet.net/comm/tcp/MiamiDx10c-MUI.lha

Also install Mui if you dont have it installed .. Also found on Aminet .. Mui3.8

Then get the key from:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ght=miami+keys

Do this after following Ebsters guide for the cnet driver ..

You can also install AmiTCP 3.0b2 which is free. Check this guide out if interested.

Disregarding what TCP/IP-stack you use, you can use smbfs to mount your windows-box's network-shares as regular volumes on your Amiga.

I use the following two lines in a script-file to mount G: from my windows-box (the first line starts with stack and the second one with C:smbfs):
stack 65536
C:smbfs workgroup=megaburken.net user=patrik password=xxxxxxxx service=//192.168.0.2/G$ device=SMBFS0: volume=MyPC: translate=L:FileSystem_Trans/INTL.crossdos quiet

You ofcourse have to change workgroup, user, password and service to match your windows-box.

Btw, the latest version of the driver for your card is found here.

Also, if you are wondering what the CardReset program is for, it is a bugfix for a bug in the A1200 which causes PCMCIA-cards to not reset at poweron. CardReset must be run before the TCP/IP-stack, either in your S:Startup-Sequence or at the beginning of S:User-Startup.
