Shadow of the Beast 3 - Guru Meditation [Solved]
Hello, it's me again
I have tried again everything in the last hours, read all old threads here, tried different configs, all known game versions...sigh. I have the same problem described here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=19546 After choosing the Fourt Dourmoor level at start, i insert disk 2, it loads a while, and then always gives me the fricken Guru Finger. The solution posted in this old thread does not make sense to me and does not work also. I should boot with Disk 2 of 2 (not possible cause not bootable) and then insert disk 2 of the different game Beast II. It would be great if anyone could tell me which version he is running with which config. SOLUTION: set chip ram to 512 k and slow ram to zero! Last edited by Grouch; 24 February 2011 at 21:13. |

Same thing happens on A500 with Skid Row version if fakefast ram is enabled.
Run the game with chip ram only and it should work, it works fine with 512kb. |

The Skidrow crack has 3 disks and should work. Disk 0=Intro, bootable, Disk 1=game disk 1, bootable, Disk 2=game disk 2 (not bootable). Andreas meant the "Beast Disk 2" from Beast III, not the one from Beast II.

LOL now it works...sorry thread can be deleted...
I could swear i tried that out before, but oviously i did not. What is working for me now: the kinda rare version cracked by Access from the eab.fileserver, running in NTSC-mode. Ah well, me is happy Panda now. Sorry again for the troubel. Quote:
So to be sure i also turned the slow ram off, which is per quickstart default always on 512k. And now suddenly even the Skidrow version is working! Ok now i googled this slow ram...so this seems to be the old expension ram if one upgraded to 1 MB, i thought this would be chip ram 1MB...oh well i see i still have to learn a lot here. Anyway, thanks for your help Retroplay and Retro-Nerd! See you in my next newbie thread! Last edited by TCD; 24 February 2011 at 21:15. Reason: Back to back posts merged. Use the edit function. |

Yeah slow ram = fakefast.
I've called it fakefast ever since the first time I booted the demo "Desert Dream" by Kefrens. |

I transfered the "Two Live Crew" version on my A500 after having problems with others and all is working perfectly .

Personally I just call it "512k ram expansion" as the Amiga can be configured to use it for chip or fake-fast. |
