When talking references in games i must suggest the following website:
http://www.geocities.jp/yadayo8/eiga/index.html It's in Japanese but most of the times there is screenshots that is easy to understand Not so Amiga related since Amiga was not popular in Japan. Just look at this Alien references: http://www.geocities.jp/yadayo8/eiga/alien.html I think Turrican 2 and Z-out would fit well in that section |

I also found the Video Game Cameos and References database (http://www.flyingomelette.com/cameos/), although it seems to be closed down.

If you go to the above link it does a reasonable job of translating the japanese site above. (Well by reasonable does half the page then gives up!) Cheers The Gaffer |

It Came From The Desert and Antheads
Both games are based on 50s B-Movies. It Came From The Desert is Them! (1954) whilst Antheads seems to be Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) with some elements of Invaders From Mars (1953). There are also some more specific references: [1] The movie playing at the It Came From The Desert drive-in is Rocket Ranger [2] The Antheads drive-in is showing Wings |

Hehe, got tired of taking pictures of Fury of the furries Cody? I'd say at least every 2nd level or so had a reference to something else. The intro screen to the forest world was very tarzan-ish, and I do believe you even encountered a tarzan enemy at a point.
All those references really kept the game interesting though. There was always something new and interesting to see, even when some of the levels really bothered you (I remember the Pac-man level and the pinball level were really bothering me) |
