What is the best way to clean a monitor without taking it apart?
I just managed to get a hold of a clean-ish 1084S and I want to get it to look as nice as I can without actually taking it apart and dunking the bit sin peroxide or what have you..
So what would be the best thing to scrub it with to get the years of grime off? I realize that I can't remove the yellowing completely, but I can live with that.. |

Some people have done spot-peroxide stuff if you are into that.
Personally, I take any surface disinfectant/cleaner like Windex or Cif and clean it with that. Depends where in the world you are. I love Cif White, but it's not available in USA so here I use Windex which I hate. Cif is VERY good but make sure you remove all residue from creases like speaker vents and stuff. |

Oh.. We do have Cif here, but which Cif White is it that works best? There is Cif Cream White (which has amonium and microparticles), and there is Cif Cream Ultra White (which has bleach)..
However, wouldn't that make both of them dangerous around printed stuff like logos and text and whatnot because they are abrasive (microparticles) and/or solvents (ammonium, bleach) for pigment? |

Cream White is what I used, the one without bleach. Do not put bleach on the plastic, it will make it yellow or damage it otherwise.
I never brushed stuff away with it. It's actually not abrasive enough, this is why it's recommended for use in surfaces that otherwise would scratch (like metal stovetops). I have used it for years and wish I could find it in the US! |

I scrubbed it lightly with Cif Cream White today for about 15 minutes, and here's how it looks:
Not bad I guess Now waiting for the 3d printed front cover to arrive so I can give it a spray paint coat, and attach in place. Last edited by appiah4; 12 April 2016 at 00:16. |

Looks beautiful!
After it dries out make sure you wipe it with a dry cloth, sometimes Cif leaves dry residue behind. |
