I've got an original of Krypton Egg from the Big Box compilation (which also includes Bubble+, Captain Blood, Hostages, Jumping Jack'Son and Purple Saturn Day).

We're in a dream...
as you guess, i'm really interested. BTW if you want to be able to play to Captain Blood under WHDLoad, you can contact Cfou as i think he could be interested to fix it. He was an Amstrad owner and if you look at most of his fix, lot of them are legendary Amstrad games. Please use MFMWarp for Krypton Egg. Thanks |

I liked the PC version. Was happy to see an Amiga version. And was saddened when I got a version which didn't work neither on my A1200 or on emulation.
There were a good deal of original breakout clones (I've tried on the PC at least). To be mentioned is Enigma which was pretty standard except that most of the things falling from the blocks would damage and eventually kill your bat, snowflakes might start falling when you've made a hole to the top and if you got hit you were frozen for a while, warps would appear on the screen and if the ball hit them they would be thrown somewhere else, and the plague of all plagues. The magnet which appeared in some levels which pulled your bat towards it making it harder to catch the ball. Another very original (I think) breakout clone was Breakline by Kalisto (Got that in the same collection (PC CD) as Fury of the furries). High quality graphics and some interesting levels in the fact that the blocks weren't shaped identically, thus it could make drawings for you to break up. There were height difference on the level which meant that you might have to send extra speed on the ball to send it up a hill and it would gain speed going down hills (Not rounded, but horizontal areas), the fact that your bat was always armed with 2 cannons from which you could shoot extra balls into play, the cannons worked differently, while some shot a single ball up which split into multiple balls other cannons shot 1 ball which you could control with the mouse. Also some strange special levels where you didn't have your bat at the bottom but instead had it going in a circle. All in all an actually good game for the PC (If it didn't crash all the time, you should think it was a direct conversion since the requirement was that you didn't run any sort of protected mode and it didn't work very well with most hardware and crashed frequently). I'm afraid neither of these 2 clones ever made it to the Amiga though. |

Frog - It will be several weeks before I can make an image of Krypton Egg, as I am separated from my Amiga collection due to reasons of space...

Somehow the PC version looked better. Well as long as the gameplay's intact.
