Amix wiki

Does anyone know what happened to amix.failsure.net? The site can't be reached and Wayback machine hasn't saved all of its pages.

I want to play with Amix in WinUAE but I need some help, last time I looked at it the Amix wiki seemed to have everything I needed to know.

I know very little about Unix in general but find it interesting.

I think I saw somewhere that the intention is it was moving to: http://amigaunix.com/ but I too would be keen on knowing. If it isn't coming back we should start a new resource.

Update: looks like since the site went down it's contents are now available on the wayback machine:

https://web.archive.org/web/20170129...tiki-index.php

I've saved a copy with the wayback-machine-downloader ruby script in case it dissapears again. Some but I think not all binary files are there.

EDIT: I found the archive that mark_k saved to has most of the needed files!: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=218

Thanks for the link, I had also looked at archive.org but it wasn't there before. At least the latest version.

I believe the site was originally at amigaunix.com, then it went down and it was long time working at amix.failsure.net (which is probably where it was originally hosted anyway).

I had an account to edit the wiki on the site (as "MindWalker") and I did some rewrites to the WinUAE installation info and added some other stuff. I have the stuff that I uploaded, but I was missing the texts as I wrote them directly to the wiki editor and never made a local copy

I have tried emailing failure (amix.failsure.net admin) couple of times during the time the site has been down, but haven't heard back. If we were to assume the site is dead, should we try to recreate (at least the installation manual) somewhere? I guess I could do that, based on the old wiki pages. A sticky post on this subforum or something else?

I believe I also know has the amigaunix.com domain, I'll email him and ask about it (again).

I found an email - failsure at <insert well known google web mail suffix> - is that the one you tried? If we can't get hold of him then it would be good to get the info back up somewhere.

There is always the EAB wiki - other options would be a github wiki or ikiwiki that we can easily preserve.

One of the pages I couldn't find archived was 'Partitioning' which would be handy to know the contents of. There is some info on partition sizes on the vintagebytes site that could be used as a start too.

Oh s%^$t - I did some digging - if you do a whois on namecheap for failsure.net you get the registrant as Andrew Whitlock of Atlanta. Some googling gives some sad news indeed

Yeah, failsure was the email I used.

I'll dig my mails about the amigaunix.com and ask if that would be staying and if we could setup a new site there. That would mean a new wiki-solution to be installed and managing users manually but will see how it goes. EAB wiki looks fine if nothing else comes up, at least it would be somewhere.

I am afraid you are correct about the sad news That's the name the emails show and he also signed the mails as agw, so it indeed looks it was him.
