Pinball Dreams hiscores transfer...

I've recently "upgraded" my (very old) JST pre-installed 'Pinball Dreams', to the newest WHDLoad version from DeCreator's pack, and i'm having this problem:

In the JST version, the high scores are saved in (well... i think ):

HI00 [198 bytes]

...and in the newest WHDLoad installer, there are two files:

HI00 [202 bytes]
HIGH [208 bytes]

...so after overwriting both files, with the one from JST all i get are some faulty signs like "CCCCCC" or "VVVVVV".
I tried to only overwrite the 'HI00' file, but the hiscores are still the ones from WHDLoad.

Am i doing something REALLY wrong, or it's not possible to transfer hiscores in those installs?

Please don't tell me all my hiscores are lost!

Okay try these

There is no guarantee they will work as I have rushed it, but if not I'll do something else tonight if someone else doesn't beat me to it ;D

Sorry, but these don't work...

At the yellow 'Digital Illusions' logo my Amy hangs - i can't even exit the game with the F10 button.

Better luck next time

Well ... I hex-edited all of your files in the zip, and - frankly - found no numbers. And strangely lots of those default names entered like 'TSL'.
There's still a little chance that those numbers are encoded, but only a little one.

What do you mean?
I think you've got the wrong file - my scores are in [HI00_BACK] file - you can recognize it, 'cause it has names like "YAS" & "SEB"

Nubers are NOT encoded, they are just save as plain hex, so if you search for a highscore of 1.234.567 Points, it is saved as 01 23 45 67 in HEX in the save file

Let's see...
The first score (SEB) appears to be 870,662,952 then, the second (RYS) mere 3,644,094! That'd be a big gap, I must say.
The third follows then with 24,212 points. Huh?

There may be some space holder in there, so not ALL hex numbers can be counted !

It´s pretty difficult to find out if you do not know the score !! I have edited some saved games back then on my A500 and at that time I knew my highscore so it was easy for me to find it in HEX format

Well, as I'm not dumb , I did take care to skip the three ASCII values forming 'RYS' resp. 'SEB', of course.

well the reason it looks wierd is beause the scores are stored directly and not in HEX!

They are stored in HEX as they ARE in decimal

so 100 in the file is 100 scored!!

Wierd!!
