Hardfile.device for PC_Task 4
OK... if this has been posted before ..sorry but i cant find it under search
Ive got PC_task4.4 running under Winuae1.1.1 Ive created the hardfile and mounted it with PCTcrossmount no problem but i dont seem to have the Hardfile.device in devs.... Does anyone know where do i get this device driver from or am i missing something obvious. The sad thing is i had this running years ago on my original Miggy but i cant remember what i did. Any help would be really appreciated |

Hmmm, hardfile.device was replaced by uaehf.device in WinUAE some time ago .... not sure how to handle these things in PCTask then ....
I´ll have a look into it this evening ..... |

It was changed in UAE 0.8.8
<snipped from Changelog> 970618 Rename hardfile.device to uaehf.device to avoid name clashes </snip> I am sure PC-Task's hardfile.device must be something non-UAE related. |

Nothing to do with UAE, but everything to do with PC-Task.

Hi,
i have another problem. Hardfile works fine for me with PC-task and Winuae, but i have a problem with uaescsi.device. I cannot use CD's under PC-task. How to solve this problem? Regards |

@Doddy: You need the DOS Driver file too. This is a text file that you put in the SYS:Devs/DOSDrivers directory, usually called something like "HD0". It contains various information about the hardfile, such as its size, number of cylinders, blocksize, etc. Not sure if the file can be generated by PC-Task, or if example files come with the PC-Task program, or if the manual gives instructions of how to create one.
Anyway, that's what you're looking for. Can anyone send Doddy the DOS Driver? Alternatively, give this a go: http://de4.aminet.net/disk/misc/MakeDrivers.lha Might do what you need. Last edited by ant512; 25 December 2005 at 21:19. |

For that, you might want to copy something like "oakcdrom.sys" and "mscdex.exe" from a normal MSDOS WIN98 bootfloppy onto the emulated PC hd.
Then in config.sys: device=c:\oakcdrom.sys /s:CD001 and in Autoexec.bat, at the end of everything else: LH C:\mscdex.exe /f:CD001 -----< I'm not 100% sure of the EXACT syntax, but you can open the config.sys and autoexec.bat files on the win98-startupdisk and copy the lines from there. |
