ISOCD Optimal settings?
I'm looking for all CDFS buffs out there to recommend me some optimal filesystem settings for maximum performance.
Here are some of the options as follows. Any help would greatly be appreciated. |

Hi WhiteSnake
As i've said before to you, default settings works fine on CD32. For my compilation for example, i didn't change any settings excepts the TM file : CDTV.TM Then i do "Examine" Souce drawer And finally i save it in ISO file and write it with RecordNow MAX or FireBurner with a PC ( I personnaly think they are the best one) I've done several test sorting filenames or any "optimize" option that are in ISOCD but i don't remind any changes......Changind Order, Group or DirectRead didn't change anything for me.... Good luck, my friend (BTW, i can affirm that default settings with a ISO file larger than 650Mb can run great on a real CD32 ...) CD32 can read overburned CD's EDIT: Are you sure that a basic CD32 use the CDFS filesystem???? I don't think so....... I think it's in the Kickstart 3.1....... Well so far I noticed less read error problems when I made a smaller capacity cd.
For example right now it is 674 MB (707,465,216 bytes) and I did get a file read error on James Pond 3, even though the file is there. I'm thinking somewhere around 670mb might be the maximum safe size. But I need confirmation on this. Have you tried the Direct Read and Speed Ind. options? |

As i've said, i've done several test with Direct Read and other options without notice a difference
Have you tried on Winuae with a full 700MB CD??? Does it Work??? If it work on WInuae,i think the problem is with your CD32 drive Perhaps the motor is quite used..... Try testing your full CD with another CD32 ( mine if you allow me to test it or any other CD32) Never had a read error with my CD32 from now with large CD |

It works in WinUAE fine, but I'd expect that as it will not be subjective to physical limitations of the CD32 Drive.
I haven't created a full 700mb disc and tested it on a CD32 but I have been close and that resulted in errors. For example when loading a game it couldn't find the slave or couldn't find certain data. Even though it is on the disc. Since then I've reduced the size and it seemed much more reliable, bearing in mind that the CD32 is probably designed for a 650mb disc I'm going to guess it could probably handle a 20mb overburn at max, resulting in 670mb. What we need is a tool which can test theory |

Try to read a full 74min audio CD until the end on your CD32
If it read it without error, then it's not your motor drive |

I have no 74min CDR's, only 80min. I would also have to test everything on the disc to ensure it works, which is also a lot of time consuming work. and I can't tell what data is stored near the end of the Disc to see if it works or not.

Sry for the mistake, my friend 74 min=650Mb
So just burn some MP3s with a 80min CDR (700MB) CD and read it until the end and then you can test the good functionning of your motor drive + you will have a good moment hearing music I never have feedback of problems with CD32 not reading large 700M CD..... None on this forum too..... I think the CD32 is able to read 90 min CD's as well Don't have one to test but i'm sure it works |
