Some strategy games:
Mega Lo Mania Populous 1 + 2 Powermonger (I have not played MLM since a long time, and Powermonger looks good, although I have not played it yet) Locomotion (Kingsoft) Twinworld Last edited by Harry; 26 February 2017 at 21:38. |

I think there's a question mark over how we would score Cannon Fodder.
A scoring system for Lionheart was suggested and accepted recently and it has been on the verge of being voted in a couple of times, hopefully it will make it sooner or later. |

@Harry: Thanks for the games, updated the list. Wasn't sure about these strategy games. Good news that they work for competition (I think also Mega lo Mania should somehow work).

Pity about Jim Power though. :| Glad to hear this. Never got around to playing through this game. |

Mega Typhoon can come off, not that it matters. I find this list really useful for inspiration for playing games when I've got a few minutes spare, let alone the comp voting.
Still can't believe we haven't played a Cannon Fodder game yet... |

Somehow missed this thread...
Firstly, I think a list of games that can be voted for is a good idea, especially as we don't have as many well-known games to choose from as we normally do and some struggle to come up with suitable games. And there's quite a lot of stuff on that list (not all of them eligible, like Marble Madness, but it's not possible to check everything). However, I think quality (especially in the context of the competition) is pretty subjective - I certainly wouldn't agree with a number of these - and lists like these shouldn't be an attempt to influence people with their votes. Even more so with a lot of the games at the top which are terrible ideas for competition games. Even if we can find a way to score them, I wouldn't take that as an endorsement of them. |

Fair enough. Changed this into a single list with no ratings and removed Marble Madness + Mega Typhoon.

Only just remembered Archer Maclean's Pool. Should have put that in for the A round. Hopefully it might come up along with Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker. I'm a fan of both and I'm sure we could come up with an engaging play method.

The list continues to shrink: Alien Breed Special Edition '92, Arabian Nights, Golden Axe and Super Cars have been eradicated from it.

I've only just seen the list. To be honest, most of the names look pretty boring, and games like Shadow Warriors and Hudson Hawk are either difficult or unfair.
It would take too long to list all the better games you missed, but here is the cut down list I have on my computer, perhaps a few of these titles you have missed? 04. Doodlebug (Robocod/Sonic) 05. Metal Law (Turrican 4) 06. Pinball Mania AGA (i.e. Pinball 4) 08. Prime Mover (Lotus on a bike) 10. Wiz and Liz 12. Indianapolis 500 13. F1 (i.e. Vroom 4) 14. Hunter (Action Mission) 15. Take Em Out (Gun/Target Shooter) 16. Dynamite Dux 18. James Pond 3 AGA 19. Oscar AGA 20. Mr Nutz 21. Cool Spot 22. Outrun Europa 24. Chuck Rock- 25. Captain Planet and the Planeteers 27. Alien 3 28. James Pond 1: Underwater Agent 29. Marvin's Marvellous Adventure AGA 30. Fuzzball 31. Ruffian (Jungle platformer) 32. Quik the Thunder Rabbit 33. Out To Lunch (i.e. Catch 'em) 34. Stardust 35. Ghouls and Ghosts 37. A.P.B. 38. Ivan Stewarts Super Offroad 39. Pegasus (Horizontal shooter/platform) 41. Nicky Boom 42. Beach Volley 43. Star Wars 45. Woody's World 46. Mean Arenas (Alien Breed vs Pacman) 47. Midnight Resistance 48. Switchblade 2 49. Impossamole 50. Tearaway Thomas 51. Putty 52. Power Drift 53. Desert Strike 54. Lethal Xcess (shooter) 55. Harlequin 56. Toki 57. Apocalypse 58. Bc Kid 60. Pipe Mania 62. Assassin 63. Global Gladiators 65. Venus the Flytrap 66. Chaos Engine 2 68. Sly Spy Secret Agent 69. Motorhead 70. Jimmys Fantastic Journey 72 F17 Challenge 73. Wonderdog 74. Zoom 75. Locomotion (Kingsoft) 76. Rampage 77. Blob 78. Zany Golf 79. Panza Kickboxing 80. Kid Gloves 81. Alfred Chicken 82. Saint Dragon 83. The Adams Family 84. Basejumpers 85. Simulcra 86. Adventures of Quik and Silva 88. Atomic Robokid 89. Lethal Weapon 90. Micro Machines 92. Premiere 93. Lollypop 94. Brian the Lion 98. Shanghai (Mah Jong) I would also add: DragonStrike Panza Kick Boxing / Best of the Best Battle Squadron Slackskin and Flint Wendetta Exile Apano Sin Microcosm Hole In One Banshee Warzone Wings of Death Quake Safari Guns XP8 Wheels On Fire Killing Machine Super Gem Z Super Space Invaders Leaderboard Leading Lap MPV Overdrive - Infacto Frenetic The Settlers Top Gear 2 ah, what a surprise, these all happen to be the playguides I'm working on for Lemon Amiga |

Quake? Come on... These games just look too bad: All Points Bulletin Apano Sin Dynamite Düx Frenetic Ghouls and Ghosts <= Ghosts 'n Goblins which I've listed is far superior on Amiga Impossamole Kid Gloves Killing Machine Power Drift Safari Guns Slackskin & Flint Wheels On Fire Someone else would need to speak up for them. But there still remain these 43 suitable games which I'll add to the list: Assassin Atomic Robokid Base Jumpers Beach Volley Blob Captain Planet and the Planeteers Chaos Engine 2 Cool Spot Desert Strike Doodlebug Dragon Strike F17 Challenge Fuzzball Hole In One Indianapolis 500 Ivan Stewart's Super Offroad Jimmys Fantastic Journey Leading Lap MPV Lollypop Metal Law Micro Machines Microcosm Oscar AGA Pinball Mania Pipe Mania Ruffian Shanghai Simulcra Sly Spy: Secret Agent Super Gem'Z Super Space Invaders Take 'Em Out Tearaway Thomas The Settlers Top Gear 2 Venus the Flytrap Wendetta 2175 Wonderdog Woody's World World Class Leader Board XP8 Zany Golf Zoom Thanks for these. Captain Planet is poor but I reckon you Brits have a lot of nostalgia for it due to them being "free" for you (Venus the Flytrap, too). Yours truly will also add Loopz, Galaga '92 and Chambers of Shaolin (percentage scores for your character after going through all the chambers). I like these three games you've listed: Mr Nutz Exile Panza Kick Boxing / Best of the Best But how should we score them? edit: We now have 194 games on the list. Hi John, thanks for going through the long list.
Adding games on your knowledge of those you refuse to add is no excuse. A suitable game is a suitable game, and there is nothing wrong with the games. Ghouls and ghosts is for me infinitely better than the insanely hard original game, and I can complete Ghouls pretty easily. So to say you cant add it just because this is your list and you have final say, is just like what Graham said about leading or misleading the vote. Some of the games like Safari Guns are excellent if you only spent the hours to play them like me. And calling a great SEU Apano Sin bad after never even trying it is an insult to Mega Typhoon and all the games you played thanks to playing unknowns. I agree with your list of unsuitable games, although Exile has a score, the player would be playing until they get bored, or after 3 hours of timed gameplay, as I think there is also a timer in the game which counts up. I think exile is a doddle compared to scoring something like Mega Lo Mania, but we have played far harder scoring games. |

But if you really invested that much time in testing them I'm just going to take your word for it and add them. Wheels on Fire looks eye-cancer inducing though. edit: That makes 206 games on the list now. Enough for the next decade. Last edited by john4p; 16 October 2017 at 12:48. |

The list looks so much better now. I'm always remembering games which we never played but would be good, but 99.9% of the time I forget to write down the names. I think the last game I saw was Virocop, and speaking of which...
Some games from 2009 and 2010 are also back in play, including: R14: Fire and Ice [link] R13: Pac-Mania [link] R12: Globdule & Gods [link] R11: Uridium 2 [link] R10: Super Hang-On [link] R09: Skidmarks [link] R08: Pinball Illusions & Virocop [link] R07: Assassin SE [link] R06: Nitro [link] R05: Project-X SE [link] R04: Tetris Pro & Atom Smasher [link] R03: Qwak [link] R02: Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 [link] R01: Apidya [link] |

^ Yes they are eligible again to be voted for. But in this thread I'll only list games that we've never played in the league.

Next classic scratched off the list. Now only Operation Starfish remains unplayed out of the JP-trilogy.

Four more classics removed from the list now: B.C. Kid, Fire Force, Indianapolis 500 and Jim Power. All have been great fun to play in the league!
Since we figured out how to make games like Shadow of the Beast work I've now also added Beast 2&3 and Targhan. Titus the Fox (was already in the list) has no inbuilt score either but we can make it work the same way. |
