[Found: Death Mask] Yet another game name - doom style
Hi blokes and sheilas of EAB,
I used to play a Doom-style game some 14-years ago (or thereabouts) which was sort of based on the doom style play. As far as I can remember, it was a single disc game; but as it is such a long time ago, for all I know it may have been 2 or 3. Nevertheless, I remember it being non-dos type disc and every level had a code to get back into it. If anyone can tell me what the name is I would be very grateful. Sorry I cannot be more descriptive. |

There is this 'Looking for a game name' subforum you know
Anyway, since there aren't many hints at the game, maybe you should have a look at all FPS listed in HOL : http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?N_ref_category=22 Just a guess would be Gloom (http://hol.abime.net/2739) |

Thanks TCD. It ain't Gloom or by what I can see, any of the other games mentioned on HOL. Thanks for pointing out that there is a sub-forum for such requests.... I wasn't aware.
Anyways, I shall keep on looking. I am afraid I might just have to get into my 3000+ disks to see if I can find the bloody game. |

That's interesting. Would be cool if you could tell us which one it was when you found it Maybe it's a nice PD game that is not in HOL.

Stop panicking.... I found it!! Disc # 2798 (out of a possible 3000 or so that I have) was the one I was looking for. After all, it was listed on HOL.!!! The name is.......
Death Mask. I should have recognised it, but it has been soooooo long since I played it that it just did not "register". |

I remember that screenshots from preview version were different than from full game (more details). I can not find it now.

Ah, Death Mask That was this 'pseudo' FPS (only 90° movement IIRC). Well good to hear you found it

I think this game is pretty underrated, despite its deficiencies. It's a decent attempt at an Amiga FPS, and it has a lovely sense of dread coursing through it.

Looking at what I had written on my discs as far as level codes are concerned, it seems that I only made it up to the 8th level..! ....... With no cheats that is. Kinda miserable really!! But it was back a long time ago when it was a whole lot of fun. especially on a 020.

Dang! Death Mask looks sweet!
Yet another Amiga FPS that looks cool as heck. I always thought that the PC was the master when it came to early FPS games but Amiga seems to have been right up there. Makes me wish that I'd had an Amaga and not a very slow PC that I ended up killing with viruses. I'm gonna have to try a bunch of Amiga FPS games, I just hope they'd work with WinUAE on the PSP (be great to play them on the bus). |

I wouldn't say the Amiga was anywhere near "up there" when it came to FPS games, so you didn't miss much. PCs were the way to go if you wanted to play Doom clones, even if your PC was underpowered.
There aren't many FPS on the Miggy - it's probably the genre it is quite bereft of, really (as well as tournament fighters like Street Fighter). However, many of what are there are decent attempts at recreating a good old corridor crawler, and some are actually quite good, in their own special ways. You might want to look at Gloom, Alien Breed 3d, Behind the Iron Gate, and Bloodfest. I can't remember the others. |

Yes, Death Mask is a great game.
Skipped a few days of school and finished it back in the days on my A600, as it was the only "FPS" I could play on that one smoothly |
