In light of the link to the "haunting music" thread, had to add Amiga Ghouls'n'Ghosts tunelets to the listings-a poor ST port otherwise, but Follin's tunes just like the C64's version is great.
Also enjoyed Amiga's X-out tunes too. The turrican noms & several others already mentioned are great choices too. The usual C64 suspects too with G'N'G, Turrican's 1/2, Last Ninja's 1-3 (esp. 2 my personal musical pick), Times of Lore & Rambo were Martin Galway musical treats, Creatures. |

Title music:
Pinball Illussions - It's simply amazing! It goes through so many stages of excitement that I'm having trouble counting them, and just when you think the track has reached its climax the godlike melody kicks in which brings me to exstasy! Turrican II - It's epic, and sounds so non-european that I can't believe it. Many many minutes of pure pleasure. In-game music: Pang! - Odd? Well, thing is that I just can't get those damn tunes out of my head when I've played the game. They seem perfectly suited for the game; much melody to be found, but not grabbing too much attention from the general game play. It was rather recently, actually, that I did realise that what always felt most familiar when playing the game for the first time in quite a while was the music. Superb. Turrican II - I don't know what to say. Had this been the soundtrack of a Japanese block-buster game the soundtrack would have sold millions. Rather obvious choice, on this very list, but I just can't stress enough how good I think this very soundtrack is. Even the thumping heartbeats blended in with the ambient sounds in the background on the final level gets to me. The most perfect soundtrack of all time, according to me, to be found in an Amiga game. If Turrican 3's soundtrack had been more original, it would have been up there with this one on my list, but as of now its just great, nothing more. Superfrog - Just like with Pang! it was rather recently that I did discover the beuty of this games soundtrack. It isn't that kind of soundtrack that makes me want to turn up the volume and blast my speakers into obvlivion, but they have so much much melody and variety going on that they never become dull. Super Stardust - Could have been a rather average techno soundtrack that nobody really bothered about. Ambient, so to speak, with more mood than rememberance. But, instead it is one of those soundtracks that DO make me want to turn up the volume and blast my speakers into oblivion. I don't think they really have that much to offer on their own... but when playing the game they really feel like they are an essential element of the game instead of just something being played for the sake of it. Oh, there's more... but I'll hand on to them for a while. Some specific in-game tunes too scarcely mentioned: The Speris Legacy - Cow Tree Island - I don't like this game. I think it stands for everything that was wrong within a major part of the game developing community that seemed to be attracted to the Amiga. People wanting to do things, but not having a clue as how to do it... instead focusing their minds on the technology behind the experience, instead of the experience itself. Well, you know what? When I stood on the beach on Cow Tree island and those glockenspiel alike blips and blops slowly started to rise above the sound from the ocean... forming a melody that was so cute that my feet started tapping and my head started bobbing... while also having to blink not once, but twice, when suddenly looking at the most gorgeous environment the game yet had shown... I thought... while shaking of some goosebumps... what the hell is going on? Quite sad though, that that is the only time when the game feels even the slighest relevant. Lemmings - Stage 7 (and others) - Groovy! Yay! Ran out of time. I guess I'll revisit this thread quite soon... |

It's quite har d to say wich ingame music is the best. As it alway depends on how it fits to the game, but i would recommend the follwing:
1. Ambermoon - the best music for an adventure i ever heard 2. Amberstas - nearly as good as ambermoon 3. Lotus - this music makes racing more fun 4. turrican - very good tunes 5. Apidya - the music just makes more appetite for playing forth this is my top 5. There is of course much more good music. |

I'm not going to say that it doesn't sound german, because if it does sound german to you it does sound german to you. But, personally, I don't see what 'german' is to be found in that very soundtrack? Concerning the original Turrican music, well, I have listened to it... but I can't say that I found its music as 'direct' as the music in the two other games. I might find it better with time, I don't know, but as for now it doesn't get to me in the same way as the two other games soundtracks. |
