Question Payback!

Ive just ordered payback from appex as i could not resist it any longer. I know an 040 is recomended, and ive only got a blizzard 030 50mz, no FPU with 32 mb, but is there any speedup patches? coz its runs pretty dam slow on the demo, even when i press - to minimize the sceen size. Is there a way to take off the snowing, that must surely slow it down. Also do i get free updates from buying the original? I loved GTA and this looks much better on a PPC amiga, cost about £400 tho dont they, and there going obsolete. Any comments would be appriciated.

As far as I remember there are 7 updates which optimalizes some game routines. The seventh one contains everything what was in the previous ones, so there is no need obtaining them. However, I wouldn't expect miracles using them. This game needs horse power. Apart from optimalizations you also get some features, although I can't recall if there was anything about taking off the snow.

I´d say this game NEEDS 060 + gfx!

Sorry, but a Blizzard 030 and AGA doesn't do the trick.
You could use WinUAE instead, though.

I tried the demo on a 40MHz 040 and CV64 3D and it wasn't ideal. I'd a say a 060 is what is needed for it to be enjoyable.

Yep I tried the demo on my 030 and was suprised to find that I could only get it to run at about 3fps in AGA

I'd hate to see it on an 020 (which is meant to be the minimum requirement!).

Tthere are a few ingame tweaks in the options for shading, lighting ect. dont know if they will make much difference though.
