1084s-d1 Vertical hold adjustment

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how to adjust the Vhold on this monitor?

This is the monitor here.

http://bilgisayarlarim.com/Amiga/1084S-D1/

The back panel has vshift and vsize. But no where on the back or front is vhold.

i opened it up, assuming id find the pot there, but i didnt. I found focus, gamma, RGB. But nothing else. That link shows all the pics for it inside and out. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have same problem with my 1084s. Occasional small, vertical "hiccups" and no way to do something with it. Everything is all right when monitor is still cold.

Try resoldering the heaviest through hole components.. Might help the vhold.

Trace V Shift and V size back to an IC, that will then be the vertical IC, look for a pot close by. Been awhile since I played with any TV / Monitors.

Can it have vhold when it syncs to both 50 and 60Hz vertical?

I am not well versed in the workings of CRT monitors, but I was under the impression that it is all electronic in this case.

Now I wonder what you mean by this?

In ye olde days of CRT goodness, timing was always of the essense, if the vertical wasn't right, cue any 80's video clip of rolling monitor. From practical experience, many older TV would suffer vertical problems, instability, the Princess sets were notorious, Teac / Masuda / Akai also come to mind. The problem relates to capacitors, but not necessarily electrolytics, it will probably have to be a hair dryer and freezer spray to work out which one is the culprit.

Yes, but those things only synced to a single refresh rate. The 1084 can do at least 50 and 60Hz. Basically the "vhold adjustment" is automatic.

If this is the case, then why do TV and quite a few monitors have a V-Hold adjustment, if TV receives and then segregates sync pulses? The answer, for my thoughts anyway, is that the syncing operation is still analogue, same reason they have a line frequency adjustment.

Jittery sync: 99.9% guaranteed dried out electrolytic capacitor(s) or bad solder joints.

Don't use contact cleaner, use switch cleaner instead, contact cleaner leaves the pots very dry, switch cleaner has some lubricant in it.

I would agree, but I have seen syncing problems caused by small caps in a Princess TV before, Masuda chassis I think they are.

I'll zone EFIL98, for all the techies
