Chess on the Amiga

I've managed to collect most of the chess games available for the Amiga over the years and I was wondering if anyone knows if Chessmate 1.2 (http://hol.abime.net/?id=3008) or any other version is available online anywhere and also Star Chess (http://hol.abime.net/?id=5022).

Also does anyone know if Sargon 4 and the Chess Machine were ever released for the Amiga (I have seen it mentioned on some chess game comparison lists [eg last paragraph of http://www.queen.it/web4you/noprofit/keres/20.HTML], but have never actually seen it. S4 was released on PC/Mac and S5 on PC).

Also can anyone think of any other chess games not on the following list:

Commercial
-----------
5 Intelligent Strategy Games (includes CP2150 I think)
Art of Chess
Battle Chess
Battle Chess 2 : Chinese Chess
Checkmate
Chess Champion 2175
Chess Player 2150
Chessmaster 2000
Chessmaster 2100
Chessmate
Chess Simulator
Classic Board Games
Chinese Chess : The Science of War
Colossus Chess X
Complete Chess System
Distant Armies
Intelligent Strategy Games 10 (includes CC2175 and a ver of Chinese Chess)
Sargon 3
Schach Deluxe
Star Chess

Chess 2.0
GNU Chess / Amiga GNU Chess
UChess
VChess
Ajeeb Chess 2.01 (German)
(I think there were a couple more, but this is all I can remember without sifting through my disks)

Laser Chess was one of the type-in games that was published by Compute magazine for several different machines, and Advanced Laser Chess was (I believe) a somewhat improved version that came out later. The game was somewhat loosely based on Chess, but it wasn't actually played the same way.

It probably shouldn't be listed here, but Dino Wars is a kind of dinosaur chess:

You missed the commercial game Checkmate, quite possibly the strongest chess program for the Amiga.

So I did, dunno how I managed that. I think we decided that Sargon 3 was the strongest of the Amiga chess games, although Colossus Chess X had learning AI.

I've set up HOL so that searching for chess returns all the chess games in HOL

Kamikaze chess doesn't really count as it has different rules.

Nice work ... added Großmeister to the list. (MIA)
Also removed silly "Oxford Softworks" entry for 'Schach Deluxe' (German); this is a Schatztruhe release (see ISBN in Miscshots)

What about HellChess? Or, did you not want currently active chess games... (Site is gone for now, but here is archive.org link http://web.archive.org/web/200607052.../hc/index.html). Hellcoder is a member of AO (maybe here also).

Hi,

Not completely related to make a list of Amiga Chess games, sorry, I was wondering if someone could tell me which of those games can be beaten (Human VS CPU) with an low to average level at playing Chess.

It seems to me Chess games from the 8-bit (like Cyrus II) can be beaten more easily due to not so well developed CPU AI.

Of course, I won't take "play with beginner level" as an answer .
