Subway or Deneb?
Hi all,
I need some advice... I have an 4000d with a Buddha flash with clockport and I want to install a usb board ... I have a 3000 with a Deneb installed and I'm very happy with it but I was wondering whether to save some $ I should just go for a subway to put in the 4000? Apart from the obvious price difference and the flash rom in the deneb, is there any other advantage to using a deneb rather than a subway? I assume that the functionality and compatabilaties would be the same once the poseidon stack is installed? |

If you can afford it, get a deneb.
Deneb is 10x faster because it is USB2.0 HS/Zorro III DMA whereas Subway is USB1.1 FS/clockport. Deneb = 8MB/s Subway = 800KB/s Last edited by alexh; 25 March 2009 at 08:51. |

I know the Subway is slower than the Deneb, but are you sure it's only USB1.1? I'm pretty sure my Subway supports USB2, I think it's just not High-Speed USB2 that isn't supported. All USB2 devices work fine on my A1200.
Still, get the Deneb if you have Zorro slots! |

Subway supports also USB2.0 but only at USB1.1 speed so no HighSpeed Mode.

And Subway is also small enough to hide inside the Amiga where you want.
Deneb is a full size board, making air flow a bit more complicated. |

USB2.0 FS is as near as damn it USB1.1!
It really depends what you want to do with your USB? If it is mass storage then you'd be mad to get a subway if you could afford a deneb. |

I mostly wanted it so I could use a usb->ethernet adapter and to experiment with usb sound... Mass storage I'm covered by the cf backplate connected to the Buddha so I guess speed wins out and its another Deneb
Now, if only I hadn't just ordered an Indy 4000, I could afford one so for the time being the 4000 will have to stay usbless! |

IF you have Zorro slot cabability (esp ZIII), It's Deneb all the way, no competition.
It will also fit nicely on the bottom ZIII slot once your Indivision 4000 is fitted too & they can share the slot backplane TC |

OK. half sized Zorro.
But even then the Subway is smaller. |
