@Prowler, evening bud. My a500 psu arrived today. It says on it under output +5volts === 4.3Amp, +12volts === 1.0amp and -12volts === 0.1amp. will this be ok to run my 030 without external floppies and no hdd? I haven't heard back from Chiark yet- what shall I send you the a1200 psu or just the cable - if just the cable do i cut it off or take it out by dismantling. cheers for your time much appreciated pz |

Hi PZ,

There is obviously no immediate hurry to get your ATX PSU modded, since the A500 supply will serve you well in the meantime, but it is still a good idea to go ahead with the mod anyway to prepare for future upgrades. When you do send it, you had better send the complete A1200 PSU so I can give you the maximum length of cable by desoldering it internally, but you might as well remove the mains plug. And of course there is no need to send a mains lead for the ATX PSU. I won't remove any of the existing ATX connectors, so that you will have plenty of extra plugs for external expansion (e.g. CD-ROM drive). I won't need to fit any other parts either. Better not send it yet. We've had loads of snow down here and they reckon there's more to come. So we've had no postal deliveries at all this week. Just PM me when you're ready. prowler |

I'm still puzzled by the rating of your A500 PSU. Input is 240V A.C, 60W, and output is +5V at 4.3A, +12V at 1.0A and -12V at 0.1A, which equates to 35W (approx.). Therefore this unit consumes 60W of power when supplying 35W, so the '35W' and '60W' A500 PSUs appear to be one and the same. @twizzle, Can you quote the exact specification for each of your supplies, like PZ has done? This might help clear up this confusion. Thanks, prowler |

aaarrrrggghhhh
how do i fit this 030? I am trying to put it in the trapdoor of the amiga technologies a1200 but cant get it to fit. how does it sit? does it sit on or underneath the little plastic lip that forms part of the case?. i can seem to line it up with the receiving part of the mobo when it rests on the lip and it slides on about 5mm, but it is floppy and seems very loose and there is no way I can replace the trap door!!!! does it under the plastic lip of the case? doing my sweed in and i dont want to force anything and break it. I am trying to put it under the lip but keep droping it onto the inner casing and this worries me...jeeze also there are two jumpers that seem lose how are these meant to be positioned, I may have knocked one loose, I presume they will be upside down when the miggy is back right side up? unless i am trying to fit it upside down. oh jeeze help me leytond |

you could try opening up your amiga to make it more simpler for you, where you insert the ram/upgrade you might have to bend up the small little metal flap abit for it to fit in

My 030 accelerator has exactly the same problem. The manual says it can be fitted through the trapdoor, but it just can't be done. It's such a tight fit that the only way is to strip the machine. The good news is that when the card is fitted, the jumpers will be accessible from the trapdoor side! prowler |
