Laced mode problem
Can WinUAE display Workbench 3.1 correctly in laced modes? games such as DarkSeed look and work beautifully under 320x512 (host) but Workbench is a different story, the whole screen is a mess. When selectable, it's either too big, too small, to squashed or too stretched depending on the setting selected at ScreenMode

"Yes".
Can't answer without screenshots ("mess" isn't very descriptive..) |

Well, I just realized that the original lowres (320xwhatever) modes are not available from Workbench's ScreenMode even though Mode Properties reports the correct resolutions for the listed modes, which remain the same. 320's have been replaced with 640's (e.g. lowres laced = 640x512 instead of 320x512 and plain lowres = 640x256 instead of 320x256). If you untick the "default" checkboxes to manually replace the wrong values and apply changes, the freshly-typed 320's will automatically switch back to 640's and you end up with something the screen above. Maybe lowres laced Workbench is supposed to look overly big, squashed and cut in half with horizontal scrolling for accessing the other half of the screen by default, I don't know, I don't think I ever used those modes for Workbench in my real Amigas, I'm just comparing this to the perfection I get from 320x512 games on a 320x512 screen (host) |

Ok, I know what happened here. My mental idea of proper laced lowres screen modes was still linked to what I had experienced running Workbench 1.3 on my real A500, which looks substantially different compared to what you get by running Workbench 3.1 on an emulated A4000. Sorry for having wasted your time
