Unstable system with Zorro IV Busboard + Blizzard 1240
Hi :)
I have a 1200 in a Power Tower with one of these: http://amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1379 , a CV64/3D and a Blizzard 1240/40, running a completely fresh 3.1 install on a 2.5" IDE disk. MUI and Picasso96 are the only installed extras. If I use the onboard gfx, the system is quick and stable. If I use a CV64/3D, the system will lock up typically within minutes. It's more likely to happen when I write to the disk (which is extra annoying). If I remove the Blizzard board, the CV64/3D works fine, although a 2MB 68020 system isn't so useful. I suspect power problems. The whole shebang is powered by taking the two AT power supply connectors and adapting them into the normal A1200 power input on the main board. The AT or 3.5" floppy power connectors shown on the Busboard are not used at present. So, here's the question: Is it electrically sensible to use a second external AT power supply and shove it in the Busboard, so the system is powered from two seperate sources? I've not found any manual for the Busboard online (I bought the whole thing from Horace - hello to you :)... Cheers, Gavin. |

Hm, the System Disk is aimed at the 060 and PPC boards... and whilst there are 68040.library and 68040new.library contained, the 68040.library is only a 700-byte stub.
I imagine they're only there to '060-enable' the 040 library, but I'll certainly give them a go along with the SetPatch on that disk. Can't say that I hold out much hope tho Update: yep seems very 060 centric - check the strings output.. gdh@gdh-home:~/Desktop/SystemDisk/Libs$ strings 68040.library 68040.library 68040.library 43.0 (5.2.98) 1994-1998 by Phase5, written by Ralph Schmidt $VER: 68040.library 43.0 (5.2.98) 1994-1998 by Phase5, written by Ralph Schmidt &*@+N )g&C LIBS:68060.library LIBS:68040old.library LIBS:68040new.library dos.library Last edited by gdhgdh; 21 March 2008 at 16:40. On a related note, is there a package out there to do a 'stress test' on a system? i.e. read from floppy/HD/play music/animations/grind the CPU ?
I could just put some demos on, but I need it to work under Picasso96 |

LOL got this sorted.
After changing the A1200 mobo to another of a different revision and the AT power supply (which died tonight!) I started changing jumpers on the ZIV board... Even though I have a Blizzard, the jumper settings for Apollo boards make it all work perfectly. Weird sheet but I love it Last edited by gdhgdh; 22 March 2008 at 00:08. Reason: . |

Apollo jumper settings got it working for me too - only necessary when I installled a Z-IV Mediator (which isn't working)
