On Dopus4 with "Click M Click" it is possible to unpack an ADF as if it were an Archive, no need to do ADF mount.

ADF images, on the other hand, can be unpacked/converted into ADF files.

Actually, the better is a software, the lesser you need to RTFM. DopusIV has excellent natural ergonomics so that even a monkey could do something efficient with it.
I would say the same of the Amiga Workbench or the Mac Finder of system 6,7 and later MacOS, one can do much without knowing much.

Can't make the "quick-click to extract lha" or the "Click M Click to extract ADF" work in DOpus 4.12CU for some reason.

Space toggles left/right active pane
Enter jumps between file window and path
Double-clicking file window title shows all parent dirs, double-click to open one

Maybe xad is required for this to work and/or the file type needs to be configured correctly.

With DOpus 4.12 CU, "Click-M-Click" works well to unpack LHA, ADF and other Archives, and "Action Double-Click" also works well to see the contents of an archive.

Only limitation DOpus 4.12CU, is that with "Action Double-Click", it cannot turn LHA Archives, LXZ, ZIT etc. into normal folders.

I recommend you to use DOpus 4.17 pre21, the most updated and most functional version !

If you need I can check your system for problems !

A tip about own configurations, this is quite nice solution for getting version strings from files: link

If the file version differs from the version loaded in memory (when checking libraries etc.), it shows both versions!

PS. if the script doesn't work after copypasting, check if white spaces are ok.

I like 4.17 pre21 but I also find it buggy and happy to crash. I have reverted to 4.12 for now. Is there a stable version with balance of functionality?

I downgraded to 4.17 pre 14 a while ago because I also had some issues with pre 21 and so far it works fine for me and has two of my most used features. Right Mouse to parent and opening archives as directories.

And there still is 4.16 if you want an update without using a beta version.

What problems and what Bug/Crash have you encountered with Dopus4 Pre 21 (which then from the info still reports 20)

I've been using this version for years on many Amiga OS's and never seen a Guru or Crash

The Guru occurs on 3.1 systems that have not updated the SetPatch !

I only remember that the build in anim player caused a guru on pre 21. And since I've never found a good replacement that I really liked, that was one reason to not use 21.

I might mix things up but I also had issues with the disk module (to format/copy disks) but that actually might be the case with pre 14. But since I don't really use that, I don't really care about that.

Done quelche test, actually the anim files "Player integrated Dopus4" generates Guru with Dopus 417 pre 15,16,17,18,19,29,21.

I had never observed this problem because for Anim Files I use other Viewer.

On pre 15,16,17,18,19,29,21, they probably fixed previous bugs, but created a new one

Took me a looooong time to adopt DOpus4 back in the day as I did almost everything in a CLI window and efficiently as well. When I eventually did install DOpus I remember being very impressed on how well you could configure it. Running it at 1080p is amazing - had to use larger fonts though, 15 and 18 point. My only gripe is you can't see much of the filenames as they cut off short.

Config Opus -> Operation -> List Format -> "Displayed Lengths..." to the right, set Filename etc to a longer value.

I found it easiest just to "borrow" an existing DOpus config from one of the popular AmigaOS distros doing the rounds, in my case CoffinOS. Comes already configured with multi-archive support, and lots of other things that would take ages to set up, etc. But I guess for some people all that's part of the fun/learning experience.

I spent a very relaxing evening a few months back configuring my Opus to follow the MagicWB colour scheme and it was time very well spent
