EAB/Lemon Super League 2019 Round 3: Deluxe Galaga

EAB/Lemon Super League 2019 Round 3 : Deluxe GalAGA

Starts: 12:01 February 24th Finishes: 11:59 March 17th

Rules

Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count.

You must use the latest version of Deluxe Galaga AGA (v2.6, full version) - links below.

You
must have these options set in your config:

Quote:
Money bonus in meteorstorm_______________[YES]
Money limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Level limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Ship Armour______________________________[YES, PLEASE!]
Cash Sucker______________________________[YES]
To set these hold down left-mouse button while loading the game. But they are default settings anyway so you shouldn't have to do anything.

Play in NORMAL difficulty.

For this round AUTO-/RAPID-FIRE IS NOT ALLOWED as it is a power-up in the game!

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned for the entire season.

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Secret Knowledge and Tips

Let the flying saucer pass 7 times in level 1 (and/or 2) to make the money ship appear (you need to keep one alien alive to do this) - this will give you a huge head-start.

You have my collection john4p; I created a floppy disk version and use it there: Deluxe Galaga v2.6C [AGA] - "HD install" --> "ADFs"

... Deluxe Galaga v2.6C (1997-09-07)(Vigdal, Edgar)(AGA)(SW-R)(Disk 1 of 2).adf
... Deluxe Galaga v2.6C (1997-09-07)(Vigdal, Edgar)(AGA)(SW-R)(Disk 2 of 2).adf

Now in The Zone! anyway

My bad, sorry Damien, not checked in your collection.. I usually do it!
I could have avoided the creation of the ADF.

Well, my version is one disk and start w/o LHA unpack, so can be useful for someone
Also start in a vanilla A1200.

I haven't looked at your disk as yet, but nice work in getting everything to fit on one disk

First few attempts. This wasn't as easy as I recalled

Quite fun, but more slot machine than skill game.

Had another go, after dying I selected "No" to continue and the game then converts any money you had etc. into your final scrore:

Isn't this what we should be going?

@DamienD Yes

It's a good game but I'm not really fan.
The gameplay is a bit too sluggish for me.
And I agree with John, luck plays a too big role to have a good score.

Continue=no

The money sucker is devastating..

EDIT:
It took me 3 plays to understand that I had to change the standard WinUAE keys associated with the joystick movement.
There is a thread about which is the hand used for the commands.
When I put the movement to the left and shot to the right, immediately I did two good games . I certainly have to move with the left.
But sure I need a stick.
It was a long time since I played for more than an hour at something, I enjoyed myself.

Updated the first post with lifeschool's secret knowledge (so everyone is on the same level): Let the flying saucer pass 7 times in level 1 (and/or 2) to make the money ship appear (you need to keep one alien alive to do this) - this will give you a huge head-start.

Another try with Deluxe Galaga
I practically lost all my lives in the last level I reached ('light bulbs' level).
I had eyes too tired and if you start to die at those levels then you are lost
(even a damn money sucker appeared immediately after losing a couple of lives!)

Score: 4.350.705

Cheers!
