Micro SD Issues?

Hello,

I'm using a 4 gig microSD in a SD adaptor plugged into the pc via its card reader slot.

Used diskpart and totally cleaned the micro SD.

Assigned it / added in in WinUAE, run as administrator obviously.

Create 2 1.5gb partitions, DH0 and DH1. Saved changes to drive.

Remove and re-add card to pc and remvove and re-add in WinUAE settings.

Boot with Install disk in drive.

Only ever sees DH0, DH1 never shows up.

What am I doing wrong please? Or are their limitations to using micro SD in a SD adaptor? Please note this is never for use in a real Amiga, I am just having a mess / play around.

As an update, I have just tried a completely different 4 gig micro SD in a completely different SD adaptor and the same issue, it will only see DH0.

The card(s) might be a little larger than 4096 MB which means they exceed the 4GB limit. Try to make DH1 a bit smaller.

Another possiblity is the (in)famous "no disk in drive" issue. If the area where DH1 starts has never been written to before it might be filled with all 1's. Unfortunately FastFileSystem interprets 0xFFFFFFFF in the first sector of a partition as "no disk in drive" and won't allow to format it.

IIRC this program should be able to format it anyway: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.../GuiFormat.lha

Thanks a lot, I'll have a look.

As for size, I was treating both partitions as 1.5 gig each with whatever was left over unallocated.

This was bizarre and couldn’t solve it. In the end I used a normal SD card (not micro via an adaptor) and the thing worked first time.

Very weird that 2 separate micro SD cards in an adaptor didn’t work.
