Icaros Desktop Live

Hey guys,

I been trying for days to download the Icaros Desktop Live DVD image off the mirrors provided by the official site. They all stop at a certain point and it's driving me nuts.
The torrent is not an option at 1/4 kb/sec

Can anyone upload the file to the EAB fileserver or somewhere else more useful?

Thanks!

I assume you mean the IcarosVE_1_2_0.7z. Grabbing it now and will upload it in parts during the next days to the file server (Other/Icaros VE).

I have just started seeding the torrent, should get upto 100KB/sec if you would like to take that option!

IcarosVE is designed for virtual machine environments and is not physically the same as Live version which is for booting directly on your PC.

Aye, mihcael is right. Plus the fact it boots from DVD too, is great.

Why is the file so big - What does it contain? I dont think ive looked at AROS since it became IcAROS.
Aros use to be just a quite a small ISO.

It now gives you the option to install, all different types of apps and utils (i.e. uae emulator).

Do you people prefer me to split it up or the whole file?

Boo Boo, Icaros is similar to AmiKit in a way, it's bundled with plenty of games and applications pre-installed and ready to use. It's for people who can't be bothered downloading specific files, extracting them and installing them one at a time. I have it installed on my laptop and netbook and it's a really well put-together package, you can browse the web, chat online and even play a 3D MMORPG straight away!

As Cammy said!

You can still download Nightly Builds which are most upto date and possible unstable, usually used by developers for testing! They contain only the basic install, very small iso's.

@Akira
The torrent doesnt seem to be moving very quicky for you, there are around 10 seeds but you are only getting 0.1KB/sec from me???

Split please. Otherwise one can just grab the torrent. Maybe make 200 MB parts though, since.
Completed the VE upload yesterday for anyone who's interested.

The torrent is working like shit, I was surely getting a retarded transfer speed.
I am now at work and almost down with the download. Will split and upload to the Fileserver tomorrow.

Boo boo, this is not a WB pack, Cammy has expressed herself wrong. This is an attempt to port AmigaOS to the x86 platform. it's not an emulator, it's an operating system for x86 machines that runs "system friendly" Amiga apps (no games, no custom chipset emulation or anything)

Not quite, Ita a reimplementation of amigaos on x86 (and PPC, x64), no AmigaOS source code has been ported.

At this stage "system friendly" Amiga apps wont run without being recompiled or emulated (UAE is being integrated to appear as if running apps native)

I think Cammy was only comparing to the fact it contains more than just Aros like AmigaKit nothing more - It was me that compared it to WB packs.

Whatever the confusion is, I am about to upload it to the file server.
Will put it in the OTHER folder.
I split it in parts of 100MB each.

I downloaded last version Icaros Desktop Live 1.2.2 from web site, without problem, fast and working 100%.

Tested on a WMware 7 "machine" works fast and stable. The problem, for me, is a restricted functionally on VGA modes and floppy´s. Maybe next version include better drivers.

Next step..... install on a old PC (I´m mounting one this days).....
