What config are you using (assuming you're using WinUAE)? I think (maybe incorrectly) that if you're using a 68000 processor the quitkey won't work. But I am probably clutching at straws.

It only saves hiscores once and only if no "highs" file is present on the floppy
Is there a s/whdload.prefs present (with configurations)?

Alternatively, you may add the NoWriteCache option to save instantly.

You may also try to press every key on keyboard, one at a time, to see if one quits the game.

I'm using WinUAE with my A600 config, then changing both CPU frequency and chipset to A1200. Do A1200's use a later 68K chip? The game runs smoothly enough (in single player atleast) with the 68000.

Definately no "whdload.prefs" anywhere on the disk, and the only file in the "S" drawer is "startup-sequence".
I'll give the NoWriteCache option a try tomorrow, aswell as trying every key on the keyboard.

I think using A1200 chipset with 68000 cpu set could be the problem.. try using 020 cpu or the A1200 quickstart config.

As who says, I think this might be the issue. The A1200 uses the 68020 so I think if you try that your problem should disappear (he says hopefully).

@ Lonewolf - I think the default quitkey is PageDown key on my keyboard, but also try Home, End, and Pageup. I often forget to quit winuae in a rush to post my scores; which is very annoying actually as it might look like possible savestate activity when it certainly isn't - but worse, I lose my top score!

@ Harry - Wow. I guess you enjoy this game somewhat? Happy for you to get your first gold. Participate more next season, you may earn more medals.

I consider this to be a pretty good run, so I don't think I'm going to be able to get anywhere near 71m

Stopped literally on the finish line of the final track.
Not that it bothers me though considering I had a crap run on every other track..
The "traffic" can really spoil the party.

Yeah, default was the Help key (PageDown for those using WinUAE), but I changed it to the Escape key by adding "quitkey=69" to the startup script.

Yes, thanks guys. Changing the CPU to 68020 did indeed do the trick. For some reason having the 68K as the CPU shuts down the floppy motor once everything was loaded, but the 68020 causes it to keep the floppy motor (and other interrupts?) running.

Now down to business. I had a great run today, with around 13 seconds at the end of snow, desert and motorway, plus 5 (yes, FIVE) yeehaa's (worth 5 million extra points)! However, I ran out of time at the end of the marsh level - I saw the finish line, so another 3 seconds and I would have made it
Still, don't count me out of this compo just yet

I managed 2 in a run today, but hit the back of the trailer a few times too When I managed 5 it was simply on a run (all levels included, bar Marsh) where everything went my way.

74.004.360

Had a phantastic run with 30 sec in the motorway and 40 sec in the swamp courses - I got all the time tokens. Only the rain course didnt go that well, I missed 2 turbo tokens, was too excited about that score.

Still playing automatic gears. Lets see what score Capehorn pulls out next out of his hat.

I'll keep playing because I love the game but I'm not going to beat that. The first round of the Super League I ever played in 2010 was Lotus 2. I thought I had it in the bag until Rexsu pulled out a score of about 70m. John4p PMed me and asked if I thought that score was even possible - we suspected he might have been playing the non-half-scored version. We PMed back and forth and tried to work out between us what the highest score possible in the game was. We came up with around 73.5m! I guess we were wrong!

I wouldn't even make your top 10 board with my best score

John4p did a test play in the previous competition and came to a maximum score of 92 mio. I for myself thought a score of more than 72 mio also impossible until I scored the 76 mio. For scores above 70 mio you need also a lot of luck with the traffic and have to know every bend, oil slick and log in the game. The faster you travel, the more points you get for your speed.

I also have to play this for more than one week (started training already in the last week of No second Prize) to achieve an entry in my own highscoretable.

BTW: It was me who showed Bert the score wrap in Lotus2 and asked if something could be done about it. His comment was, as I stopped playing after the score wrap: "Well, but with this, you wont get a highscore entry..."

That was xpect, not rexsu.

At the end I did a savestate-run to check what scores might be possible and got 92M: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=646642&postcount=95

But I still had doubts that with legit play scores above 70M (which in fact means 140M) were possible. Until Harry proved it once and for all.

Well, my best ever go was 59.5M. I'll be happy if I can finally beat 60M in this round.

Btw., I think this game is well worth to be also played in the Knockout again (just saying because Harry and you haven't voted yet...).

EDIT: Ninjaed by Harry.

Thanks for the tip, will add mine now

I have taken a break from Lotus today (and might do the same tomorrow), but I will definately be playing it Friday and Saturday. I hope to break the 45 Million mark soon.

Edit: Don't forget the 'http://' bit at the beginning...

Signatures Ahoy!!

Here's How to make the signature have a link-back to the Superleague Page:

1. copy this code and remove the '*'s.
Code:
[*url=http://superleague.mikendezign.com/][*img]http://superleague.mikendezign.com/players/lifeschool_rank.png[/img][/url]
2. Check out your rating on this all-time highscores chart, right-click on your signature, select 'copy image location' and paste the location into the code above.

3. Go to UserCP, signatures, paste your new code.
4. Select 'Edit Options' and choose 'show signatures' in Thread Display Options.

-----
edit:
@ who - you are in 18th position and climbing fast! It will be fun to see you overtake many players next season.

Right you are. I forgot about your playtest, I was just re-reading the PMs that I still have.

Harry, 68m is the tops for me, I can't improve. I have to doff my cap to you and admit defeat. I would love it if you'd share some tips though
