Hi Jens. In reference to the C64 reloaded board... I assume that connector CN4a (next to CN4, the IEC connector) also has the IEC pins. If that is the case, can I get the pinout of that connector? Is that a .100" pitch? I would like to make my uDrive compatible with your board. Thanks!

FPU support on that card is not official, so putting info in the Wiki has no priority. Check this post, it should answer all questions if you have a rough idea what you're doing:

Is there any news on the Network/USB module for the ACA-500?
The new ACA500plus will have the same connector for USB/network, but in order to make the module compatible with both versions (ACA500 and ACA500plus), I need to have a prototype with final features before I can get to that. No timeframe yet, sorry.

C64 Reloaded is on highest priority, and that part of the documentation will be in the wiki in the next few days.

Thanks for updating the Wiki page with info about CN4b! However, there is no info on the connector spacing/pitch. Is this is a .1" or 2mm pitch?

Jens I have to buy a laptop psu as I haven't any (unused). Also the one my laptop uses is 18,5v, 3,5amp. Could you please recommend me a brand/model or specs (watts/volts/amps) just to start looking for?

My amiga is the most demanding A1200 desktop ever as I commented (BPPC/BVision/ACard/Idefix/Dvd/4wayAdaptor/Delfina/Subway/5 fans).

For the boards "with empty sockets", I don't have any choice but to only sell them with ZIF sockets. European customer protection laws would make returns an expensive endeavour for me - many people don't have the skills to put a chip into a non-ZIF socket, so what would happen is roughly this:

- customer gets a lower price because of non-ZIF sockets
- customer installs chips, breaks something
- sends all stuff back, I need to spend time&money on the board
- I need to pay for the repair, maybe even replace a dead chip that the customer claims to have worked fine, then pay for return shipping

In numbers: I lose on each and every step along the way. That's not why I'm doing this, so I keep chances for customers to break things to a minimum.

Jens
Hi Jens, pardon my ignorance, but what is bad about a board with ZIF sockets? It seems like that is a great thing - allowing easy replacement of bad chips? Am I missing something about ZIF sockets?

Jens isn't saying that there's anything bad with ZIF sockets —after all, one of the options is to have them installed.

What he's saying is that non ZIF sockets is not an option, due to the issues he listed above.

Ah - got it. That makes sense. This board is already amazingly inexpensive - the ZIF sockets just seem like extra awesome to me

It's probably better to attempt to sell a million of something that you can buy parts for wholesale. :-)

Obviously the Kickstarter would imply Jens building a foundry somewhere and restarting the production of all the old Commodore chips, using the super-secret reversed designs he has got laying around

Okay, enough off-topic, otherwise he'll get angry at me

BUMP.... Jens, can I get an answer to this. I am going to start production shortly and I would like to have the right pitch connector!

Thanks!

Hi Jim,

write an email to Jens; he seems to be quite busy with the C64reloaded.

I like your products very much btw. and will surely include your new device into my next order!
