Picasso96 problem

I just installed Picasso96 on my harddisk but it doesn't seem to work. I have tried to install it 5 times now before i went to look for help. Just to let you know that i searched the boards here but the latest one that addressed my problem and a solution for it dated back from 2002. So when i reboot after the install this is what i get:

Picasso96: Could not create graphics board context for 'uaegfx',
please check your Picasso96 installation!

As i said before there was a solution for it but that was apparently for previous versions of WINUae as they said you have to set your RTG memory to 4 MB. Since that setting is greyed out and inactive in WINUae 1.2 im totally stuck now. Maybe i'm missing something? I can tell you it's driving me crazy for days, so i really hope to find some help here, that would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I've investigated this a little bit.
The greyed-out / not-greyed-out is determined by the CPU.

RTG is only selectable if CPU = ...
- 68020
- 68020+FPU
- 68040

Although it escapes me why 68EC020 should not work with P96; this is the CPU used in stock A1200 machines. That the option is disabled with the EC020 appears a bit bizarre to me...

Woow awesome it finally works, you were right mate. Now i have the problem that it says that the lib needs to be updated but it seems to work without doing it. Anyway i can't thank you enough, i'm one step closer to a perfect Workbench.

There is nothing bizarre. 24-bit address space has not much free space for display RAM.

2MB chip: 8MB max display RAM. Totally useless configuration..
4MB chip (or 2MB+2MB): 4MB max display RAM. Could be usable but..
more chip or fast: no space for RTG RAM..

But you really should do the update! You just have to replace the rtgmaster.library installed on your Amiga side by the one included in WinUAE/Amiga Programs/ folder and that's all. You'll get much better performance than with stock Picasso 2 installation and less error. The Amiga emulation really need this extra speed as it's not very fast (I'm not blaming (Win)UAE).
