Is it just me or is this place near-dead?
Seems harder to get questions answered sooner for one thing. I've seen too many threads on here which end in unanswered questions.

Too many threads are just off topic crap. Or the usual moaning and mumbling about how expensive life is.
There hasn't been any good threads for AGES. |

I am still happy looking in on EAB every time I start up my PC. I have a wee check for interesting games to try next and funny threads before getting any serious work done.
I don't log in though, I must be a bit of a voyeur I guess But I do enjoy peeking into your message board for a few giggles, some genuine retro magic and a lot of very geeky and bewildering tech-talk! |

In my opinion there are bigger things to worry about in life than an internet forum. Take what is useful to you and then filter the rest and be done with it till your next visit
But i do understand the point of the original poster of this thread for i myself am guilty on not responding soon enough or enough at all to threads i may begin, but that is not through lack of appreciation or implementation of the advice i am given but more to do with a busy life. I should work to rectify that for which is a fault of mine. |

@MethodGit
I think your questions have been in the areas which ppl are slower to respond and are busy with RL (at least more recently anyway). @alexh Did you not enjoy the 1MB ROM thread? What was the last thread that you liked? Would you like a picture of a freescale 060? Would that excite you? @Zetr0 Take a look at my photo album for the latest hardware pr0n - I had you in mind. That is my A1200 with the 1MB ROM. No one responded to my request for hardware splitters ClockUp and Quadddroport (I guess no one even has one) so if someone can make me a hardware splitter schematics available (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/...29026&forum=25) I can also shove in my 16bit Prelude 1200 soundcard with the subway. Will pay good money! I left enough room for it! I didn't start a thread on that computer as no one seemed too interested in the 1MB ROM stuff apart from a couple of ppl. |

It's just you. Don't know about the hardware sections (not checking every thread there), but generally things get sorted pretty quick if someone knows the answer or has a hint about it. Guess it really depends on what you ask about.

It was interesting. While I knew it was possible and I have known for a LONG time how it is done, it is not something I've actually done so not something I could comment on.
My only minor criticism (which I kept to myself until now) is the guide did not really discuss how much space would be left in a 1MB KS ROM after applying the BB2 patches and FFS update. Or list what additional modules could be used other than Poseidon. Not much point having a 1MB ROM and having nothing to put in the extra 512K. I would have liked to know if it would have been possible to get in ROM the drivers for compact flash on PCMCIA (i.e. CFD) that would allow you to boot from CF card. Quote:

@alexh
Now that you ask about all those extra modules... too many to choose from. I suppose I can update it at some time. I haven't yet applied the extra patches and which ones I would prefer (hence not in the guide) but I know the theory and generally what's available. Good suggestion on the space taken up - that should be there. |

I certainly don't think this place is near-dead at all but one or two sections are very quiet at the minute.

But it's there a "summer lull" every year? I seem to remember this being the case. Most of the interesting nerdy stuff seems to happen during the winter when users are not tempted away by BBQs and scantily clad ladies...

I blame the new EAB server, it's being anti-social.
