Help with Warp3D and Voodoo 3

Hi EAB community,

I'm trying to configure a Mediator 1200TX with a Voodoo 3 and a Blizzard PPC.

Almost everything works:
- p96 screenmodes ok
- audio with sb128 and Ahi 6
- spider 2 for usb
- Warpup demos

The only thing that fails are warp3d demos, either 68k or ppc demos.

I'm using MM CD 25 upgrade drivers. Since my last medreport below I modified as suggested by elbox support :

PowerPC/force to 1
Mediator/Warp3D to No

No changes warp3d demos still fail.

My medreport:

I think voodoo only works on the Amiga when it is set at 16 bit regarding Warp3D.
Also try both the PC(LE) and BE 16 bit screen modes.

Thank you Hedeon. My workbench screen is in 16 bits pc, no background picture to save vram. Warptest or gears demo crash immediately. Hoe can i access to the BE modes?

If I let the A4000 drivers wrongly installed by the install script, warptest is able to launch, I got a screen mode selector, then a blue screen with text but no 3d objects.

I was also wondering if the usage of thor mmulib could cause those issues.

Do you have all modes enabled in P96 or just the essentials? Normally if all are enabled you have two options for every voodoo screen mode. One with PC next to it and another without.

Ok I enabled all modes. Testing from screenmode a non pc mode give me a black screen then a reboot.

You have an 8 or 16 MB Voodoo3?

Tested with 3 differents Voodoo 3 2000 16MB. Two looking like this: https://goo.gl/images/YXu7ce
and one like this:
https://goo.gl/images/PvYq6h

I was wondering what I should put in PowerPC/gfxaddr.

If I put $200000 (the medconfig value) I got a blackscreen and freeze when launching gears_ppc. If I put $80000000 (pciinfo memspace0 for the voodoo 3) I got a ppc exception memory violation at 00000008

if MMU = no then $200000 if MMU = yes then pciinfo memspace as far as I know.

On the other hand, you said the 68K Warp3D is also not working. Where did you get the drivers? From Aminet or the Mediator CD?

Thank you Hedeon! I was certain that I was using the files from the archive downloaded on Elbox website. But just to be sure I reinstalled from the MM cds, now it’s working!!!

So to summarize, if it can be util to others:
  • I started with a classicWB 3.9 on a system with a BPPC 060.
  • Install Thor’s mmuLib (with BPPCfix installation)
  • Install Phase 5 dummy 040 lib into libs:
  • Reboot
  • Install Warpup 4, 4 Update1, and 5 (each time choose last version of warpos and no wshell support)
  • Reboot

Now P96 and voodoo 3 support:
  • Install mediator files from MM CD
  • Install mediator files from MM CD update 2.5
  • Copy dowloaded from elbow website pci.library v12.0 to Libs:
  • Run medconfig from MM CD update 2.5 archive
  • Default options should be ok, ensure you said you had a voodoo 3, and a bppc.
  • The resulting relevant Envarc:Mediator variables:
MMU = No
Emulation = No
VoodooMem = 8
VoodooMemOS = No
VoodooInt = Yes
  • Install Picasso 2.1b, choose cv64/3d as graphic card
  • Copy voodoo,card from MM CD update 2.5/libs/picasso96 to libsicasso96
  • Rename devs:monitors/cvision3d and devs:monitors/cvision3d.info into devs:monitors/Voodoo and devs:monitors/Voodoo.info
  • Edit Voodoo.info tooltypes to BOARDTYPE=Voodoo
  • Double-click on Voodoo monitor icon to activate it
  • Launch p96mode Prefs, attach settings to voodoo3 card, create two new modes (like 640x480 8 bits and 640x480 16 bits PC)
  • Reboot
  • Change with ScreenMode Prefs the workbench to a 16 bit pc voodoo mode

Now Warp 3D
  • Install Warp3d files from MM CD, accept PPC version
  • Delete wrongly installed A4000 drivers in Libs:Warp3D/gfxdrivers (W3D_Picasso96.library and W3D_Picasso96_PPC.library) and Libs:Warp3D/hwdrivers (W3D_AvengerBE.library, W3D_AvengerBE_PPC.library, W3D_AvengerLE.library and W3D_AvengerLE_PPC.library)
  • Copy from MM CD the A1200 non MMU drivers to Libs:Warp3D/gfxdrivers (W3D_Picasso96M.library and W3D_Picasso96M_PPC.library) and Libs:Warp3D/hwdrivers (W3D_AvengerBEM.library, W3D_AvengerBEM_PPC.library, W3D_AvengerLEM.library and W3D_AvengerLEM_PPC.library)
  • Set that Envarc:mediator variable:
Warp3D = No
  • Check/set Envarc:PowerPC variables:
Gfxaddr = $200000
Force = 1
Terminator = 2
