Shigeru Miyamoto died this morning (fake)
Video game legend Shigeru Miyamoto died this morning at his home in Sonobe, Japan. The creator of Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda series was killed while picking up the morning paper in front of his home; an eagle was flying overhead and lost its grip on a tortoise it was carrying. The tortoise landed on the back of Miyamoto's neck, shattering one of the cervical vertabrae. Pending an autopsy report, investigators are assuming he died instantly. Miyamoto leaves behind his wife, Yasuko, and two children. Satoru Iwata, the president and CEO of Nintendo Japan is expected to comment on the issue at an upcoming press conference in late January.

Fortunately that sounds like fake news. I'm in japan, and I didn't hear it the news, nor there's anything in the news pages. And according to the japanese wikipedia he's still alive.

I think we can safely say it's a joke as I don't think many people have ever been killed by a falling tortoise from the claws of an eagle.

[edited, now i remember] the greek tragedist Aeschylus died that way, actually it was quite common to see hawks drop tortoises on stones in the past.
what do care an hawk for the head of a person after all? Aeschilus died in 456 a.c., about 70 years old, a Gela, in Sicilia and the stories were spread about the hawk who mistaken his bald head for a stone. the stories may come from the comic poets' kiddin about the insondable highness of the tragedist' diction. or may be true. well, not many eagles left in japan, anyway ... it would have to be a miracle to get killed by an eagle here
