which cables to buy???

Hi. can someone pls tell me which cable is suitable for transfering adfs from a windows pc to an amiga using amiga explorer?

i have some doubts about the correct cable. Trying to get one that does the job but isnt a rip off. (like those on amigakit)

im looking at these: http://www.ebuyer.com/search?q=null+modem+cable

is the correct one here? is there an even cheaper place to get one?

The same question applies to the RGB to scart. I found this one on ebay, but if anyone knows where to get a cheaper one?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Commodore-...-/250786119867

im also on the lookout for a 512k upgrade for an a500.

thanks
Tony

For the null modem cable, these two should work together:

I didn't find one at ebuyer. You need a null modem cable from DB9(F) to DB25(F).

The DB9-DB9 cable can be used to connect two PCs or other devices, so cable+adapter might be a more versatile solution.

Whatever you do don't get the one from Maplin, it's doesn't have the correct wiring for amiga to pc.

I got mine from ebay although this is the only one I could find and it's in US. You can always build your own

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6ft-Null-M...item3f2222a573

Edit:
I had a look through my ebay history and the seller I bought it off still has the same item. I bought it last year and it worked okay.

BTW the RGB lead you linked will work fine. That seller makes damn fine cables, I have bought many different ones from him.

£12.89 for a our Amiga RGB Scart Cable. I don't think that is a "rip off" as you suggest.

We only sell Amiga hardware and software. We don't sell anything else. So when you buy items from us, the revenue goes back into supporting the Amiga market and developing new products. When you buy from a PC supplier no money goes back to the Amiga.

Yes it is exactly that, I have one. The main cable has "Alarm cable 12 cores 24AWG" printed on it.

However it does do the job, don't seem to get any interference.

To amigakit. Since you put it like that I'll probably get it from you then. When I say rip off, I meant to say I'm skint. Really skint. All the Amiga gear I got recently was free.

Anyways. One thing does worry me. Is this 23 pin vs 25 pin thing a problem? Will I loose quality?

Thanks

Oh... And what's the postage on it?

No, it's not really a problem if done by the people at AmigaKit - they don't sell rubbish! And there won't be any drop in quality whatsoever!

you make the cable out of the plugs(you already have a 23 pin d plug and a scart plug),you have the cable.for the most part you only need the stereo phono plugs and wire it together.(cant really get any cheaper than that)

theres even info on this site.

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...42553238,d.d2k

you need one of these(shortest lead there)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-Ster...item41628fbae5

and,if you send me both the cables(the video cables you opened a thread about) plus the phono cable to me.i'll make the cable and send it back to you.
what do you think?

Bargain at £2.79! If this works, is there any merit, other than supporting future development, in going for AmigaKit version over this?

Roy sounds like a good idea, but with postage there and back plus the phono leads would there be much savings compared to something like this...
