Indeed you are correct Sir Galahad; using the Disk 2 .IPF and all is perfect

So Damien, I don't know where the problem is for you.

Galahad have you tried Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL].adf?

Both Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][t +13 ATX].zip and Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][t +32 Backlash].zip
works with this disk2.
Thanks ross

...I thought I was using "Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL].adf [CRC: 30D2B51A]" but in fact I was using "Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL][a4] [CRC: 4F7066F8]"

Tested and indeed using this set is perfect:
  • Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][t +13 ATX].adf [CRC: C68B806C]
  • Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL].adf [CRC: 30D2B51A]
As you've said, I'm positive using "Assassin (1992)(Team 17)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][t +32 Backlash].adf" will also be fine

Cheers guys

[CRC32:30D2B51A] is [MD5:E6A49E05C4278B0E2E1656BE4265200F]

Also compared this disk with IPF and is identical (apart the copylock).

work with this disk2.

EDIT: I don't know if it makes a difference, but I used the cheat mode to finish the level
No, I used the Anthrox trainer to skip to the Boss, and before it tried to display the text for the mission complete bit, I noticed it was wanting disk 2, so bypassed the need for the CSL disk 2 and chucked the IPF disk 2 in the drive and it worked first time.

It has a copylock on disk 2, but I don't think its ever accessed because the protection checks are based on the copylock serial key being stored at address $ff8 before the Team 17 logo appears.

I'm surprised Team 17 allowed it out the door like that, must have taken IBM of Crystal all of 5 minutes to crack.

Yup, same here
But then I looked for an ADF that had the same data as the IPF because there was no reason why it didn't work, and...

... for this same $ff8=#$E0BB605F reason.

Cheers!

Yep, this works (I know it because last evening I've dissected the IRQ code, I wasn't sure where I was supposed to go ).
Actually there is no need to pause the game because is only the position on the map that trigger the check.
Off-topic, but I just tested that you don't need to press pause first.
I guess suggesting to do that serves the purpose of not losing time when typing most of the code.

I'll need to rephrase that part of the cheat entry on HOL.
Besides it is inaccurate right now because the P from the cheat (uPhere) code will unpause the game anyway, so there is no need to unpause if you have paused first.
