You know, it's kind of hard to objectively define "horror-themed" My very personal definition would be something containing spooky murders, ghosts, haunted houses, zombies, vampires, grim reapers, demons and basically any supernatural stuff related to death. I, for one, blindly refuse to let Alien Breed in that category, that's just alien stuff and alien-themed stuff usually just bores me dead

Alien was basically using the same mechanisms as a haunted house movie but in space (where nobody can hear you scream).

Also you all forgot Uninvited.

It's not that scary except there are undead beings.

The Lurking Horror is another text adventure game.

Black Crypt, while not horror game, it was sometimes scary too, when medusa head attacked you while you didnt watch whats going on first and hear steps of ogre on second level.

Ecstatica has to be mentioned here. I really liked that game.

It was intended for Amiga.
It was developed on Amiga.
It was published for PC.

Wow, didn't know that. Quite like(d) the game along with the AITD games. Any source for this info you could link to?

Not exactly. I read this in an interview that Andrew Spencer had with a games magazine years ago. Maybe it is still in my basement...

Elvira and The Lurking Horror. Fantastically scary, especially playing at night.

From the here mentioned I know of Elvira (part 1 and 2) and It came from the Desert which are all cool !

I would also add Another World which is Science-Fiction with action (of course), but it has some horror-parts too (like getting spiked to death etc.).

Yes thats true. It Came from the Desert for PC looks terrible.

On the german MTV there is a consoles/PC-games show were they once even presented It came from the desert. I found it pretty cool but I was a little disappointed as they showed the PC Version.

Uhm... isn't the Shadow of the Beast games kind of horror-themed? Very scary and good games tho, I hear.

Been meaning to give them a twirl, as they're in my list of Amiga-games that need to be given a twirl or two.

I can give my vote only for Personal Nightmare, secondly Darkseed and not-so-closely for the genre a true evergreen is Space Hulk. I really scared way back when played... Felt the same with Personal N., while Darkseed always gave some distance during playing, so somehow I missed the mood...

All the rest I don't think can be more closer, IMO.

I agree to this. Elvira and It Came From The Desert are among my absolute favorite games all time and I found them pretty scary. They had this wonderful tone.

It came from the Desert and Elvira.

Captain Blood maybe?

You play as an alien and you dont know what to do. But you can blow up planets and it looks cool though!
