hi Hedeon

tested builds and found something for my problem.
my problem was build 396 was working on me stable.
build 397,398,399 was crashing on all wos programs.
build 400 was stable
there is no build 401
and build 402 to build 447 when initppc it stays at memspace3.
but everythime first starting build 396 and then reset from workbench, everybuild is working (402 to 447)
when I shut up computer (power off ) and open again build 402 to 447 stays everythime at memspace3 and slowin machine too much.
but it is working everythime when I start 396 or old builds and reset , then other new builds working.
my problem starts at build 402.

so there is something stays on memory when I reset.
and it gets to work other new builds.

ramix + ragnarog + radeon 128
no switch on env/sonnet folder

Removed radeon
Removed it from picasso96 and devs/.
And installed voodoo 3 3000
All builds working with no problem.

Installed radeon and changed slots but problem still same.
Now I am clean installing os39bb2 and will try again.

Yes
Ethernet card
Realtec on slot 1

Note: with clean install os3.9 build 396 and 400 works good. Other builds stay at memspace2.
All builds working with voodoo 3 3000

But when I first init build 396 or 400 then reset with keyboard, every builds are working fine.
I did not understand

Yeah so you're probably running out of PCI space with the Ragnarok and Radeon together with the 8139D since it takes a little bit. Remove it and try with just the Rad and Rag, if you can.

Right, so that is normal. I want to say that about build 400 was when Hedeon added 384MB support? In any case you have these options:
1) Ragnarok 512MB with only 256MB+Radeon which takes 256MB regardless=512MB
2) Any PPC card with 256MB+Radeon (256MB)=512MB
3) PPC card with 256MB+Radeon (256MB)+RTL8029 (10MB Card which takes no space)+SB128 CT5808 (which takes no space)=512MB
4) Any PPC card with 128MB+Radeon (256MB)+RTL8139(which takes a little space)+SB128/FM801(either take a little space)=>384MB

So is it happening only with 8139D ?

I can search another ethernet card if I cant use 8139D.

No problem. Which eth card I must buy?

But problem solved without ethernet card. Thank you grelbfarlk.

As far as I know all 100MB NIC requires PCI space, this includes the RTL8139 and RTL8100C and other compatible cards.
The RTL8029 is the 10MB NIC which as far as I know doesn't take any PCI space. Also happens to work in OS4.1 with CSPPC on Mediator.

isn't there something to do with how the memory on the radeon is configured too? something like if it's a one block of 256mb then all that 256mb gets allocated, but if it's two 128mb blocks then one block is ignored? I remember Heds telling me but it was a long time ago and so i forget.

Yeah there's something to that. Certain 9200 256MB cards are configured as 128MB+128MB, and you only get 128MB, that is a feature which predated the whole Sonnetlib project. You can get around that by the flashing the ROM on the Radeon card with one that has a contiguous block, I actually did that myself when I got my first Radeon 9200 256MB. Then years later I bricked the card trying to flash it with a Mac BIOS, in that it doesn't want to reflash now to any BIOS.

But even 128MB cards take 256MB of space is the point. Not sure about 64MB 9200s if they even exist or how much PCI space they consume.

Well I mean, probably nobody needs more than 64MB of VRAM, maybe Elbox could modify their driver to only allocate 64MB total for the Radeon and everyone would be happy. Voodoo 4 has this problem too, to an extent.

Ok but why when I first init 400 or older, than reset with keyboard, all new builds working flawlessly with ethernet card?

So, I "upgraded" my apocalypse today swapping the RAM chips with9x 48LC32M8A2 chips. It should have gone from 128mb to 256mb. However it has gone from 128mb to 128mb (Actually on 122mb in Sysinfo). It is very stable and can play mp3s with amigaAmp 3.27 very nicely so at least not a backwards step.

I am using it with a radeon 128mb, spiderUSB, SB128 and 10mb ethernet card. Winsize jumper is closed. Is it because I don't have enough memspace? Do I need to configure MMUlibs again or is it that one side of the RAM is not working due to my poor soldering?

I did use it with my voodoo instead of Radeon but for some reason the voodoo is well flaky. For the brief time that the system was stable it still only showed the same 128mb of RAM.

Any ideas on the easiest way to test it?
