I don't think so. I am not at my Amiga atm, but I think MemSpace0 is the config block of the PCI-PPC bridge and is only addressed by the PPC.

Heretic II seems to be just a bit too big for the K1/M1. You could run the WB in 640x480 with no background pictures and close all open stuff like AmiDock.

Are you trying minigl or software? What resolution are you trying the game in? I thought the K1/M1 was unstable for you?

Is there a way to play Heretic II ppc game (It requires 64Mb) with K1/M1 cards ? The K1/M1 address about 58Mb (not full 64Mb) and I can't play the game (I only see the movies of the game, but if I select new game or tutorial game It quit ... or give not enought memory, or "dll_output recursive shutdown")

I'm using 128Mb on onboard cpu 68k board in A4000

thanks

Hi Hedeon,

First off thanks for the support.

So I tried the Voodoo again which I found out why it was giving me the “can’t initiate VGA memory”. This was because I had set VoodooINT=Yes and not No

Once done I have a spinning gear with the Warp3D woohoo

Show info shows 186mb on the sonnet so there must be memory conflict with the ATI cards

That's odd as a while ago, VoodooINT should have been on otherwise benchmarks were much lower and it was a bit more crashy.

Heretic 2 has some variables you could try reducing, I think there was GLTexturecache, Mtexbuffer, and I think a sound buffer setting, GL_TextureCache I think was more related to GFX RAM so that would probably not help.

I checked every configurations, but allways has a problem.
This problem is visible especialy in fast track in rapier level.
I have this problem in fulle game, and in demo, with sound end without sound.
Is is look like little freze, sometime textures are disappeir in this time.
This stuttering is not regular. Normally, game are very smooth, but time to time show this stuttering.
Please someone with Ragnarok and Wipeout 2097, to check the game on rapier level. Is game is smooth all time?

I tried the two rapier levels and they seem fine. In the options when launching the game I have the buffer on max, doublebuffer enabled, frame limiter 60, AHI Audio. I only played two races but I didn't notice any stuttering, if anything it ran too fast. That's at 640x480x16bit w/Ragnarok+Voodoo 3000ish. Haven't used this system in a while so it has old Sonnetlib 426.
The Apocalypse system runs smooth sort of but seems to be have dramatic shifts in how fast it's updating the screen. But this system has a lot of non standard configuration items at the moment. *Edit* had some bad configuration settings on this system, not really any stuttering to see though.
You might try reducing the framerate cap to say 45 or 30 and see if that helps at all.

Off-topic, updated the Dosbox thread with some performance considerations for Apocalypse. Short version it runs Dosbox quite well.

BIG thanks for your tests.
I have set triple buffers (higher frame rate than double buffer), and AHI Paula 8bit DMA (frame rate about 50~60 FPS),in your setup, you had probably about 40 FPS, and in your config seems to have less frequency of this bug, but still exist.
After long time playing, I saw, that this bug exist in not perfect regular frequency (unlike in PayBack WOS in Sonnet).
This bug seems to be assigned to corectly places in track (like near finish lines, several turns on the track etc).
In my opinion you probably have this problem too (happens, that in one loop, I have not any bug, but another time, I have more stuttering in one loop).
Our configs have one big diffrent: MMU libs/Oxypather.
I don't use MMUlibs, but I use Oxypather.
I will try MMUlibs to test it.
Thanks again for your tests.

Are you saying that that it's stopping down to a dead freeze, like 1fps or that it goes down to say 10-20 FPS during the slowdowns? You are using triplebuffer vs doublebuffer like me have you tried doublebuffer?

The newest version of Dosbox is up there, I don't really have anything else to fix other than joystick support.

Please look on this videos:

On this video is visible one situation of bug before end of video.

And this one:

On this video is more (sorry for my third hand).

Thanks for DosBox

Library only supports 1 MB of L2 cache currently. I guess I should revisit this. The 2MB recognition code was checked on a Sonnet G4. The IBM size test code I used resulted in a reported size of 0x1ff400 or something similar so I decided to deactivate that part.

This should be easy to upgrade to 256MB, takes only 15 minutes™. And library already supports it. 512MB could also work but we don't have a reference to know it works on this particular card.

So I noticed on the Github SonnetAmiga site it states that the Mediator TX is not supported.... is this still the case

If so is it only the sonnet or all PPC cards?

All A1200 Mediators basically are not supported on any PPC board. Some people have reported various levels of dissatisfaction and maybe one guy was only slightly disgruntled with the A1200 stability. So it's not supported but might work in certain situations where PCI Audio is used over AHI (not Paula).

You really should consider installing the MMULib, don't forget to set P5Init in your MMU-Configuration. Without showconfig, muscan and pciinfo there's not enough information to go on.
Hi guys,

I tested Sonnet again, I installed MMULib, it seems worked fine but now sometimes working sometimes not. I do not know where might be o problem. Here are my configuration files:

I am guessing faulty memory. The PPC is initialized correctly, but this is done while using VGA memory. After all is set up, it jumps to PPC memory to the idle task and then immediately fails with a Machine Check failure which is indicative of a HW error. Memory being either the on-board memory sticks or cache memory.

Have never seen machine check exceptions, i must admit.

Edit:

From the manual:

Assertion of TEA during a data bus transaction, assertion of MCP, or an
address, data, or L2 bus parity error.

TEA being Transfer Error Acknowledge.

Hi Hedeon,

thanks for respond, memory I think is ok, Jack3D also tested this memory and worked fine. Also with my MK II worked fine, only sometimes was there PowerPC Exception.

New PCI library

We have a new pci.library from ELBOX, here:
http://elbox.com/downloads_mediator.html

Someone tested it with "sonnet.library"?

Hi Joe,
Have you tried setting envarc:sonnet/SetCMemDiv=5 (slowest setting)? Others have mentioned in the past that regardless of what was supposed to be on the board, they needed to set this to slowest to be stable. Unfortunately I upgraded both of my Sonnets to 250MHz so I can't really test this any more (other than crashing it by setting it too fast).
