New book "Commodore: The Inside Story" by David Pleasance
David (Forner CEO of Commodore UK)
Has announced that he is writing a warts and all story of Commodore. His view and perspective will be very interesting as he is the first person to write about Commodore from inside the company. The book will be on kickstarter in a couple of weeks or so , so please back it and lets hear what really happened to our beloved and tragic company. thank you all. mjn. Could be interesting. The Retro Hour did a nice interview with David a while back.

An interesting, slightly off-topic fact: I work for a big international company. Two weeks ago we had a summit in Brussels and there was a motivational speaker on the stage. He was talking crap of course, but in one moment he encouraged us "to be as good as possible to prevent fail in the future". And look what powerpoint slide was displayed behind him...
So even after two decades C= is not forgotten. |

Nice to know. I met him and Petro at the Gamescon in Cologne last year for a small talk.

Petro wrote a book. He makes it sound he saved Amiga by selling it to Escom in that book and every presentation he gives. As far as I heard, many people who were in Commodore at that time but are less vocal, don't really agree to his version. I don't know who is right, but Petro is more than enough heard from |

I didn't ever say that Petro's version is the final version, I simply questioned the statement that David Pleasance's is the first book written from inside Commodore's top echelons.

I've had the chance of meeting David Pleasance during Irish Amiga Meetup in January this year. He announced that he is going to write a book there. I spoke to him and he was very nice and talkative. I can assure you all, he's a great story teller and he's got some great and interesting stories to be told regarding Commodore. I really look forward to reading that book.

I'd be interested in hearing what Irving Gould and Medhi Ali thought they were doing...
They seem to be mysterious figures who exist only in two small photographs (that every doco uses), screwed up everything, and never again talked about it. |

For Mehdi Jnr this site claims contact details, but I don't trust it. http://www.zoominfo.com/p/Mehdi-Ali/301183335 |

I have had the pleasure of working closely with David over the past several months / almost a year and he is a really intelligent and fun person. Some of the stories he has told me are pretty remarkable. I can't wait for the book because I know I have only heard a handful of them. He did tell me that Medhi lives in the same town that I do, so I will have to hunt him down! I haven't read Petro's but would like to. For some reason I was thinking that it wasn't in English, but obviously I am wrong.

Backed. We were lucky to have David come to our Amiga Ireland events, in person this year and on conference call the previous year. As Sir_Lucas said above, he's a great story teller and better positioned than anyone to write a book like this. I'm looking forward to reading the story with the missing parts included this time

I've backed this one - another promising Commodore/Amiga book in the works. Hopefully this one won't drag its heels like 'Commodore: The Amiga Years' is currently doing.
Here is a direct link to the project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...e-inside-story I have to say I'm a bit annoyed that the £30 tier isn't for a signed copy of the book. That should be a given shouldn't it? Hopefully David will change his mind and sign all the copies. |
