Well, I suppose you COULD be dumb, but simply having difficulties getting your first WinUAE install to work for you don't necessarily prove that.

If copyright issues didn't prevent the WinUAE installer from including the Kickstart roms then everything could have been packaged together in a way that would ensure everything was set up properly after the installer was done. Since the copyrights are still an issue, that necessitates some manual installation steps, and that is bound to trip up a few folks. You're certainly not the first person who's had some initial problems with this.
