CD drive refuses to work

I have an Amiga 2000 with an AdSCSI 2000 SCSI controller. Hooked to the controller is a 2GB Quantum hard drive and an 8X Apple CD drive. I've tried AsimCDFS, CacheCDFS, and now AmiCDFS. Nothing works. The SCSI bus is terminated prefectly, the IDs are set correctly, everything is fine. Except of course, nothing appears on the desktop when I put a CD in the drive.

CacheCDFS's FindCD program sees the drive as having two unit numbers: 1 and 41, but I have no idea what's causing this. The drive has parity and termination power set to ON, could that be part of the problem?

Some "Apple" CD Rom drives will not work with an Amiga computer. Also, get yourself a Commodore A2091 SCSI Controller board. This is one of the best SCSI boards to use with an Amiga 2000 computer.

"Some Apple CD Rom drives" is not a very specific description, is it? Moreso when people have said that certain Apple drives are the perfect choice for Amigas with SCSI controllers (like the Apple CD150 and CD300 drives, of which I own the former)

All Apple drives are re-badged Panasonic or Sony drives. Mine's a Matsuhita CR-8008.

Oh, and turning off the parity and termination power jumpers changed the behavior a little bit. It now thinks there's no disks in the drive, even after repeated issuings of the diskchange command. I've fooled with all the "diskchange" and "trackdisk" - related commands in the CD0 mount file, but nothing works.

I'd love to know what's going on here. Does anyone else have an ICD controller? How are their CD drives set up?
