Modified A2386SX for Zetr0

I'm new here, but I thought I would throw this up for Zetr0. He seems to like hardware as much as I do. It's an A2386SX-20 with the Cyrix 486 upgrade, socketed clock oscillator, and coin cell/diode hack.

Perhaps someone can help me with the Bios modifications for 16MB. See the thread at Amiga.org for details.

BBOAH says this:

RAM: 1MB (Expandable to 8MB with ZIPs, 16MB with a ZIP to SIMM converter)

seems like a very difficult task... I doubt that by taking a "bios" from a GG card this will work... even if u could, it would not work either...
and if you think of it, nothing that runs on a 386sx/486slc/486slc2 would require more than 8MB RAM... even DOOM that is it's high-end game IMHO is happy with 8MB , plus it is crappy on even a 486slc2/50mhz bridgeboard.... I have one , I know!

you get the following speed, that it's just not enough....

There was a hack at aminet about this ... hmm can't remember right now, but you had to dump the rom, change some bits and write it back I guess ... Hope you have a rom burner handy.

I have a firmware programmer

If either of you would like to pursue this, I have a firmware programmer available which can definitely read/write to the EPROMS. I can also source some EPROMS if the C= ROMS are true ROMS.

Let me know, zetro et al.

386sx class cpu's (including the 486slc ones) cannot address more than 16MB of RAM.
