Garbled composite video

Good evening everyone!

Got garbled composite video out of a NON RECAPPED Amiga 600.

I'd describe the defect similar to RF interference when using antenna out on channel 39.

Strangely enough (unless for me), the image out of the A520 adapter VIDEO OUT is crystal clear.

Time to get hands dirty and recap the heroic machine? (online for 30 days non-stop!)

Thank you very much,
AG

A520 adaptor converts RGB to composite? So maybe the issue isn't capacitors but the RF connector?

Thanks! Yes to double check I've tried also with A520 and problem disappeared.

Should I check joints of the integrated composite connector?

Actually getting recapped is probably still a good idea since these capacitors can leak!

Similar issue but no solution in the thread.

This video does fix it though:

The capacitors were not the problem...

Also this is nice fix:

Thank you very much for your time lesta_smsc!

You get those technical skills after 10+ years in a lab!!

Let's face it: I'm a software puss__.

I see corrosion in the infamous RF box neighborhood.....

Screenshots time! (sorry, Amazon 15€ video grabber )

Looks like interference hence poor signal. Worth taking a look at bandpass filter.

I would say I'm in "deep sheet" (that is, a very thick A4)

I have 2 dead VCR's around!

Shall I look into those for an identical chip?

Thanks again

Maybe wait till more expertise offered by others who have attempted such repairs.

I wonder whether @Daedalus could shed some light?

Abime #1 board

Supaduper, lesta_smsc, kriz, everybody else...

Abime is the most professional, funny, collaborative, insightful, welcoming, non-sectarian, friendly board I came across in 25 years online.

If I wasn't broke as f... I'd gladly give financial support. I'm really sorry not being able to do so at the moment!

I'm speechless, God bless you all.

@Hewitson (cannot see you reply anymore!)

Almost looks like it's intermittently losing sync for a fraction of a second. Are you able to try the RF output? If that works, possibly suspect C237 (470uF).
Sorry, I couldn't test that because I have a TV set but no remote control to adjust preset "programs" to channel 36 (39?? whatever that was!)

Thanks for the suggestion!

I decided to delete my post as a previous post suggests that it is not a capacitor issue. Could still be worth checking out though. Short it out and see if the symptoms change.

Thank you very much and sorry for the late response. In my country we had restrictive measures somewhat lifted and I really needed to enjoy some fresh air. I'll try what you suggested. Again, respect to the userbase of Abime and their wise administrators to make all this possible!
