As the title suggests, I'm after pixel art but I cant tell you what I'm really after until I see it

When my miggy's HDD went fzzzzt, back in 1993/4 I lost everything I had. Now I do have some piccies of some of the stuff on paper but alas I cant find it

So, what I'm really after is any websites that exclusivly have Amiga pixel art from say 1987 - 1995 or later but preferably between the two years to prevent things from becoming too peecee orientated.

What I have. Well I have, from the parties:-

Assembly : 94, 95, 96 Graphics, 97 pixel and 97 trace
Scenstrike : 97 pixel
Takeover : 97 pixel, 97 trace
Gathering, the : 95 graphics
Party, the : 92, 94, 95 graphics, 93 mixed graphics

And about another 4,000+ files

I have found two of the piccies and that amounts to less than .2% of what I had and the rest I have amazingly not found

Current Available Sites
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cumbrow...7611288618058/
http://www.gfxzone.org/ (no longer maintained)
http://www.scene.org/
http://ftp.back2roots.org/
http://amiga.lychesis.net/
http://ftp.funet.fi/pub/amiga/graphics/ (no longer maintained)

Nuff said, I think you get the idea. Post what you can 'n' I'll check + if I find any I'll let you know

I'd also liek more resources. Seems like gfxzone was the only one until they abandoned it ;(

Regarding the parties, you can get the releases from scene.org definitely.

First link was slightly wrong TCD, it was supposed to be the one you linked, I've obviously gone into an actual category 'n' that's why my linkie was ridiculously stupid (must remember to post the right links in future)

The more links to Pixel art or even any Amiga Graphics will be a really cool feature, you cant believe how many pics I've studied over these past few days 'n' I'm still doing it. There is some really cool stuff out there from original Amiga artists + some rather strange ones too

@Akira
Yep! I honestly thought GFXZone was the one where I would of found most of the pixel art that I lost, it's a shame it has not been updated since 2004 and it certainly does look like it's been abandoned

scene.org, what a great link, I've been there before but that was such a long time ago i'd forgot about it + I had no real reason for searching there site at that time. I do now though

Well it looks like I'm back to the searching, happy days

Oh! And one more thing, Scene.org has an ftp too, so you can quickly and easily download the stuff all in one go

Good idea, there has to be thousands if not millions of Amiga pixel art out there. Having the whole lot under one roof is a really superb idea. Wonder if we can fnd out what's happening with GFXZone and maybe kick there arses back into action for them to do a long awaited update.

Contributions Quote 'Current Community Chest balance: $0.00' maybe this is why they have stopped, no donations to keep it running or someone stole the money

Anyway, just e-mailed the only person I can with GFXZone and hopefully they'll be able to shed some light on the subject

Was on the BTTR (Back To The Roots) ftp last night 'ftp.back2roots.org', they've got the Parties too + poo loads of other stuff and they seem to have extra stuff within them that other party files don't Unfortunately quite a lot of the Pixel Art is corrupt and won't display I've tried downloading some of the stuff twice with exactly the same result, however the mod files seem to be OK along with everything else,I think.

My email to the only person I could with GFXZone has been returned unsent

It really looks like it has been completely abandoned. Everything they have should be pulled off before it's permanently lost forever, any takers, I'm too slow + I have a download limit

Hmmm. Maybe I should of included the publisher/developer logos and their graphics with this thread too.

As these games are now classed as abandonware (don't like calling them that) does that mean the publishers/developers have given up the rights to there logos 'n' graphics too ????? or is this a touchy subject that we should leave alone.

There's no such thing as 'Abandonware' mate (not in law that is) You can however try to put them on a free site and put an announcement on it that you will take down the material once someone claims the right to them. That should work for most stuff that resides in the 'grey' zone

Then what's this on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware

I suppose creating a legal disclaimer is the only way you can protect yourself regarding non-supported software, imagery or logos but you will probably have to do a thorough check to see if they still exist or to see if someone took over the copyright. So long as you have done all these things and used a disclaimer you should be pretty well covered.

I've actually re-done the 21st Century Entertainment logo, from the original, pepped it up a bit 'n' removed the name, created a new and slightly bigger plinth for the beast to sit on, so you can fit more text to it.

The image is still the original size but it does look marginally better + I can put any background to it that I desire
