I haven't tried that particular model. One of mine outputs 5V through the hdmi cable which could hurt the vampire and also has a very weak power supply, the other shows some artefacts in movements that seem to be a misled attempt to deinterlace a non-interlaced screenmode. So, yes, they leave a bit to be desired. Scrolling doesn't look very nice in my setup but I consider this an effect of my LCD.

The licensing problem hasn't been sorted out yet so right now there are no public P96 drivers for the vampire2.

They are not yet available until P96 and Apollo team have an agreement and every technical part has been sorted out.

Nice professionally done video review Lantus. You should have put ADoom in a higher resolution to stress it. My CSMK3 68060@75MHz can do 512x384x8 RTG before it starts to feel too slow. The larger caches of the Apollo core seem to be smoothing out the performance.

please can you run adoom in this way an post here the result?

> adoom -nosfx -forcedemo -timedemo demo3 -cpu 68060 -fps -width 640 -height 480

i got 18,6 fps on my dev vampire, with the last dev core (i'm slow, but i can still increase the mhz)

This seems to be awesome and somewhat revolutionary. I'd like to have one but I do not own an A600.

Sorry for the question, but does anyone know approximately when will the A1200 version be ready? And the A500 one? Any dates? Don't need to be exact dates, just approximations ("3rd quarter of 2017", for instance. something like that) so that I can make some math here. I'm in dire (i.e., immediate) need of an accelerator board for my A1200 and I'd like to know if it's worth the wait or not.

Thanks.

A500/1000/2000 probably in spring/summer of this year and A1200 perhaps in autumn/winter.

Sorry to be OT, love that review and checked out more of your videos, good stuff.

I was wondering, what arcade cabinet is this one behind you on this video? [ Show youtube player ]

Is it this easy ? Same model for A500 and A2000 ? I was under the impression that big box Amigas were a little bit more complicated with the way they handled accelerators.

hey Matt, i can try but i dont have access to the newest core that supports that screenmode. I can only run in EHB modes for now

The A500 version could be ready very quickly if it was the main focus i.e. next month but Majsta has a backlog of V600 V2 boards to build and post. The team also have the Gold Core to finish. So I expect the first public deliveries for the V500 V2 won't be before April at the very earliest and when it is available expect orders to take some time. Kipper2k is likely to take V500 V2 orders but will also be busy with V600 V2 orders and building each board is time consuming. Majsta will be busy designing the V1200 I expect so when we might actually get a V500 V2 or V1200 in our hands is difficult to predict as I expect demand to be high. Interest in the Vampire seems to be picking up a lot as word is spreading about how good it is.

honestly, its a game-changer. I've always been a 68000 hardware fan and never really payed much attention to the previous iterations. I admit in the past i snubbed my nose at FPGA in favor of real hardware but im sold. I'll definitely pick up an A500 version. I've never liked all the bits of hardware hanging off the side of my A500

The v500 is supposed to be inserted into the 68000 socket which is the same for all of the OCS Amigas.

I don't think it will be a problem with the 68000 processor based systems as the Vampire 500 (1000/2000/CDTV) connects through the CPU socket (assuming a mechanical fit to a given motherboard can be achieved) and not via a slot it looks electrically just like a normal 68000, the FPGA takes care of the extras on board the card. The '32 bit' Amigas (A1200, A3000, A4000, CD32) are more complicated.
