Try saving the mountlist from ram: (if using faaastprep) to your WB disk (DF0:Devs) Boot from the WB disk and type mount (whatever the device name is, it will be the first line in the mountlist). If it shows up then automount isn't working on the GVP device.

O_O Arnie, you're brilliant. It's only seen as a 31 MB drive, but it's there.
So um, now what? We've established that automount doesn't work. |

I tried that a little earlier, but no such luck.

Well, I did think about one route if all else fails - this drive is really intended for larger game installations more than anything else. I've got a Gotek on the way and could boot Workbench from that, then start games from the SCSI2SD. Surely there's a way to make that happen, right?
I'm using Arnie's image again and formatting as we speak to see if I can get a decent amount of space working consistently. Here's hoping we see some real progress! Last edited by azuvix; 05 December 2016 at 04:32. |

Also, I find it strange that the autoboot isn't working when jumped. You may want to inspect the board, namely follow the traces from the jumper pins to their final destination to ensure no breaks in the traces. Something as simple as a scratch.

I agree, it is unusual. The traces look pretty pristine, though. The worst anomaly was a little bit of dust.
By the way, I've been minimally successful in the last day or so with getting it to read and use partitions. I went ahead and wrote an Amiga partition table to the card using GParted, stuck it back in the machine, and issued a "format drive dh0: name Games ffs quick". The result is persistent as long as I enter the drive parameters correctly in the mountlist and add a mount directive to the startup config. However, it's still not perfect - installing games there works, but then starting them from the drive is very prone to not working or crashing. Frankly, I could even live without autoboot if I could have a little more stability here. Thoughts? Sorry everybody, I know this has been a long, drawn-out battle. It's an interesting challenge.
I still recommend changing the prom. I accidentally plugged my scsi cable in backwards and did about 10 minutes of troubleshooting before I found my mistake. I corrected it and my gvp stopped working. At boot I'd get an unexpected status error from gvp.scsi device. The firmware was a long shot but it worked. That's the only thing I can recommend. |

Alright, it's about time to try that out, I'd say. PM sent.

I'm trying to respond via mobile app but I don't think is working. I'll respond for certain when I get home in about 5 hours.
All in all, and I just need to confirm for certain, it's probably around $10 total, shipping included. |

Well it’s 6years later and I’m quaking in my booties reading all this before I try to put a16Gb SD into a new version SCSI2SD from Amigastore.eu in my new old HD8+ connected to my new old A500 PAL Pistorm (with piscsi on, but only mounting its internal piscsi0 drive for WiFi transfers b/w PC). There have been changes since in Amiga hardware! But the old platter scsi HD has too many errors and I want to keep the feel of the gvp sidecar as that’s what I had long ago in ‘93. Anyhoo wish me luck as I used Zeb’s online 16Gb WB3.1 Whdload image burned to SD. I think WinUAE or an online pre made image has a far better chance to work than reconfiguring cylinders and heads....
