Hello Peter, thank you, but I am still far away from coming back. Hopefully till end of the year, but things are getting better daily.

Sadly I destroyed my testing environment. AmigaOS 3.1.4.1, A2000/030, OS3.1 Icons, PFS filesystem. Made a snapshot, sone icons from the old one were not fixed.

Changed to original icon.lib, snapshoted them and went back to yours. If it will happen again, I will try to give a better feedback.

Ok, I made a fresh installation of OS 3.1.4.1 with 68030@14, 2MB Chip + 8MB Fast, ECS cycle-exact, no FPU, no MMU, 68030.library and mmu.library, and with the old icons, but on Windows NTFS, not on a HDF with PFS.

I could still not reproduce any snapshot problems with my 68020 version build 520 or 526 on WinUAE.

Maybe there is a problem with file locks on PFS? Which PFS version is that? PFSAIO v3.1 or an older original version?

It is PFS 3.1 installed in the direct scsi version. I love the look of old icons combined mit some MagicWB parts, this mean I will see the problem (if there is one) on the next snapshot round. :-)

Created a HDF with PFS3AIO v3.1 using PFS/3 0x50445303 DirectSCSI, mask 0x7FFFFC for ZorroII and MaxTransfer 0x1FE00, but still don't have any issues with icon snapshots.

Thanks, but I already pointed out that deficons could be a possible reason, because you cannot save a position to a non-existing icon.

Or do you mean something else could be a problem with deficons?

Normal old 3.1 icons. Maybe I can check on the weekend again using the latest version.

DefIcons can be "normal old 3.1 icons" all the way. Just de-install DefIcons and see what happens. Failing that, SnoopDos can provide hints as well.

Sorry, but that won't help much, because you cannot disable deficons this way. When no tool like DefIcons exists in WBStartup then the icon.library will still display the standard deficons for tool, project, drawer etc instead of custom deficons for data files. And if you would remove all def_xxxx.info files then finally the internal icon images are loaded.

The only way to get rid of the deficons is to switch the WB window mode from "show all files" to (real) "icons only".

In case you use ColorIcons for the def_xxxx.info files my library will display them ghosted, but I did not make such a transparency mask for the old planar icons yet, since most people won't like it and I would probably get a lot of protest from the users.

You can find Thomas Rapp's RemLib command in my Aminet package in the ThirdParty/RemLib directory.

Update: The icon.library 46.4.527 is available on Aminet now:

http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/IconLib_46.4
.

Update to icon.library 46.4.528:

Added another buffer to the TrueColor versions (TC020, LD020, Aros, HAM8, HAM6) to transfer the uncompressed 1. image of OS4 or PNG icons from the loader to the drawing function on RTG and HAM screens. This improves the speed ~ 3% - 16% depending on the system.

Removed 528 again because something seems to go wrong when the buffer should get released.

Hello Peter,
I run into the same problem trying so snapshot some old icons on a PFS3 partition using 527.
How to proceed? Should I send you the icons, or should I use newer ones. :-)

Hello apex,

there are no changes in 528 concerning your icon snapshot problem. Yes, please upload some of these icons here at EAB, at A1k.org or send me an email, if you like. Thx.

Does my test system match your configuration or is there something different on your Amiga?

I made a fresh installation of OS 3.1.4.1 with 68030@14, 2MB Chip + 8MB Fast, ECS cycle-exact, no FPU, no MMU, 68030.library and mmu.library, and with the old icons, ColorIcons etc ....

Created a HDF with PFS3AIO v3.1 using PFS/3 0x50445303 DirectSCSI, mask 0x7FFFFC for ZorroII and MaxTransfer 0x1FE00, but still don't have any issues with icon snapshots.

I tried to send you 2 mails with the known address, but they came back...

If you want you can have an official a1k email with POP3 and IMAP. Provider independent.

Thank you apex !

I got both emails, but I have a lot of problems with my email transfers since December already. Sometimes they are delayed or totally blocked and many of them are redirected by somebody, your two emails too. My router was very often active at night, there was some access via maintenance port and two weeks ago even my router firmware was flashed, probably not by the provider. All my internet sessions are controlled by a "man in the middle" now. Look into my readme at the credits and you will see who I suspect to be the spy.

icon.library 46.4 test versions

Let me know if you want a secured email.

Ok. You got both. So I will wait for your comment.

I use an AVM router, I do not trust the Vodafone hardware or any other router which comes for free. Only AVM with official firmware. Bought a cheap one on ebay. Flashed it with latest AVM firmware.

after replacing icon.library 46.4.520 with icon.library 46.4.527,
icon of system partition is now below all other partitions and it's initial space (where it used to be) is free.
normally my order is (from up to down): ram disk, system, games01, games02, software.
after replacing icon.library in sys:libs the order is: ram disk, (empty space), games01, games02, software, system.
dragging it back and fixing that icon doesn't work, after reboot it's gone down again. so what is going wrong?
system is amigaos 3.9, both official boing bags installed and inofficial boingbags3&4 installed.

currently i reverted to .hdf before replacing icon.library, so now i'm on 46.4.520 again, which has no problems.

can i still download the versions between 46.4.520 and 46.4.527 somewhere?
then i could test, which version of icon.library caused this issue first.
as i said, i went from 46.4.520 to 46.4.527 and skipped everything between.
