Star Trek Discovery
Do other Star Trek fans find it difficult to enjoy this show. I tried to watch season one and two but struggled to be interested. I really like other Star Trek shows like TNG. Discovery seems like it has something missing.

I really liked season 1.
Season 2 had a couple of slightly annoying episodes, but overall, still good. |

How were you able to get into it? It seems really rough around the edges and is too dark. Klingons are really weird too.

I don't get into it. I appreciate the attempt to do something classic Trek, but at this point Seth McFarlane is better at doing Star Trek than the people behind Star Trek Discovery.

I thought it was pretty good actually. Not an instant classic, but definitely kept my attention through both series. But then again, while I consider myself a Star Trek fan, I'm not in the upper echelons of überfans, and unlike some people, I'm not really one for getting worked up over Ackchyually moments in these things.

I did not see single episode of Discovery, since it is not on any subscription services I have.
But The Orville... is far best 'like ST show' out there, between stars, that is not ST. ![]() |

I’ve been rewatching The Orville. It’s way better than STD to me anyway. I’ll check out Discovery season 3 I guess. They are stuck in the 40th century or something. We shall see if that plot device works. If they killed off the main character perhaps the show would work better.

Lower Decks is the only half decent trek show at the moment.
Discovery and Picard feel like they were written by people who maybe saw a trailer of one of the JJ trek movies once. |

I plan to pay for ST Discovery stream in about a month or so.
Is it going to be spoiled, now that last week I rewatched (and really enjoyed) Orville again ? I somehow liked the Orville better the second time than first time, if that makes any sense... Which ST is Discovery closest to in overall vibe ? |

I watched the first four episodes of season one and couldn't get into it. One day I will give it another go.

I am a huge fan of the original series (and classic films, to a lesser extend) who simply couldn't get into the subsequent ones. TNG was decent, I stopped there mostly. It's a bit long in the tooth, but you could enjoy the Animated Series (1973-1975). The latter is comprised of only two short seasons and features the original characters and voice acting, except for Pavel Chekov. Also, have you heard of Farscape (1999 - 2003) featuring Ben Browder ? I think you may also find this series entertaining albeit its lack of connection to the Star Trek multiverse.

Everyone bursting into tears every 5 minutes asking where Michael is. Who is a Mary Sue.
Meh. And I have sat through both season 1 and 2. |
