SWIV unsupported version or bad dump?

I have 2 copies of SWIV, retail in a box and what appears to be a loose retail disk as it's the same labelling as the disk in my retail box.

Have dumped both and created a CT Raw file with DTC and the retail dump loads and plays in WinUAE and also installs and plays via WHDLoad in my WinUAE A1200 setup!

However, the loose disk creates a working CT Raw in WinUAE, loads and plays but fails in WHDLoad with the message "The data/disk-files are damaged or it is an unsupported version." The installer copies the disk but it's only when running the game does the error appear. The fact the generated CT Raw file runs in WinUAE suggests the disk isn't corrupted, so could it be an unsupported version?

Have attached both CT Raw images if anyone wants to investigate!

Hi Barry

Your Retail version of Swiv has the track 12 side 0 and 1 either BAD or modified.

EDIT : your retail version is the very first version of the game, it doesn't have any revision number !!

I have tried to activate the cheat mode NCC-1701 and it doesn't seem to work. Can you please try on your PC under winuae ?

Your loose version is perfect. It's not modified, and it doesn't have any defect. It has the copylock on track 0 side 1, and the whole game data on MFM encoded tracks.

It has the revision number v1.0 dated 28-02-91, and there is an existing official IPF of this one (#0038).

The interesting version is your retail disk.

can you redump please your retail disk again ?

Bizarrely, only your loose disk is seen as unsupported under whdload. The retail disk, version 0, is supported under whdload. Please contact Psygore, i'm sure he will support the revision 1

New dump from retail disk using a different drive zoned! Have also sent Psygore a PM asking if he can support it in WHDLoad and zoned that dump too!

It looks like track 12.0 / 12.1 are not used as the WHDLoad installer copies 0 & 2 (T0.0 & T1.0) then 26-159 (T13.0 to T79.1) so it misses 24 & 25 (T12.0 & T12.1)

Cheat also works in the retail dump, NCC-1701 causes the screen to flash blue and have infinite lives but can't get F1-F6 to change weapons?

REGARDEZ LES PUNTETTAY

Your redump still has the faulty track 12.... But well, the game never access this track..... Let's finish the game and check if it is accessed or not.

The fact the WHDLoad installer doesn't copy Track 12.0/1 suggests it's not used. I'll let you complete the game with the cheat enabled then
