Question Special Amiga TOSEC tags

Since there are quite a few TOSEC tags that are Amiga specific and not mentioned in the TNC, this is the thread to gather info on how to use them. I will try to gather this info and make a document that can be used as an Amiga addendum for the TNC, so renamers don't have to guess what which tag means

I already documented most of the flags (but some are incomplete / missing info) used in TOSEC sets and our will is always to document and get things as correct as possible to avoid mistakes and doubts from renamers so i support you

I think you are talking mainly about identifying and describing the most used / common "more info flags" in Amiga sets so renamers could know what they mean and when to use them correctly, instead of creating variations or wrong tagging sets, right?

If so i can provide you with some stats, Amiga - Games - [ADF] uses 217 different more info flags, top30 list:

Code:
More Info Flag Images
HD 488
data disk 264
CD32 rip 119

Correct mai and I want to create a list with informations when to use which tag There were some questions about these tags recently and I think it a good way to give both renamers and those who check errors this info.

In the current Amiga-dat many "flags" are used wrong, so TCD and I decided to open this thread to give suggestions, how to use the single flags.
But remember this are only suggestions and inspirations, we dont make the rules.
Maybe any TOSEC member can confirm some suggestions.

I will start with:

Quote:
[FD-HD]
Description:
This flag is used, if it is required to install the game to Floppy or to Harddisk first.

[FD]
Description:
This flag is used, if it is required to install the game to Floppy first.
(Seems to be very rare.)

[HD]
Description:
This flag is used, if it is required to install the game to Harddisk.
The [HD] flag is often used wrong in the current Amiga-dat.
This flag is not used, if the game was fixed or modified to work on HD.
.....more coming soon.

What flag would be used for games fixed or modified to work on HD?

I would say [f HD] should be the tag to use for them.

Good point Boo Boo While [HD] should only be used if the game needs to be installed on HD to use it and [f HD] for those with an added installer, there should also be a tag for those who provide a HD install, but doesn't need to be installed. I think [with HD install] info tag should be added to those

About the "HD" fix descriptor here is the list i have:

Code:
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Various - [EXE]:
242 (1993-08)(Virtual Dreams)[f HD][ASM#2]
Enigma (1991)(Phenomena)[f HD]
Groovy (1993-11-10)(Lemon)[f HD]
Mental Hangover (1990)(Scoopex)[f HD]
Party Invitation, The (1992)(Melon)[f HD]
Red Sector Megademo (1989-08-26)(Red Sector)[f HD][TRISTAR#1]
State Of The Art (1992-12)(Spaceballs)[f HD][TP#1]

Commodore Amiga - Games - Public Domain - [ADF]:
Formula One Manager (1996)(Crystal Interactive)[f HD Fix Ltd]

Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]:
Assassin - Special Edition (1994)(Team 17)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr DLM][f HD Aesthetica][t +19 HLM][Quarterback archive, budget]
Assassin - Special Edition (1994)(Team 17)(Disk 2 of 3)[cr DLM][f HD Aesthetica][t +19 HLM][Quarterback archive, budget]
Assassin - Special Edition (1994)(Team 17)(Disk 3 of 3)[cr DLM][f HD Aesthetica][t +19 HLM][Quarterback archive, budget]
Battle Chess (1988)(Interplay)[cr Amigos][f HD Amigos]
Bubba 'n' Stix (1994)(Core)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr PDX][f HD Morpheus]
Bubba 'n' Stix (1994)(Core)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr PDX][f HD Morpheus]
Bump 'N' Burn (1994)(Grandslam)[cr PSG][f HD Install Crimewatch UK]
Legend of Ragnarok (1993)(Gametek)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr QTX][f HD Humane and Vanity][Quarterback archive]
Legend of Ragnarok (1993)(Gametek)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr QTX][f HD Humane and Vanity][Quarterback archive]
Note that some of them may not be in the last official dat, i also see some kind of mistake in my lists here: "Bump 'N' Burn (1994)(Grandslam)[cr PSG][f HD Install Crimewatch UK]"
Fix descriptor there seems to be "HD Install", don't know if this is some fix descriptor i missed or some error that should only be HD

as you already saw i'm also interested in getting all info / descriptions for all kind of flags so all those descriptions even for more info flags that are commonly used will be stored somewhere

I've no idea about the systems like i said for 1000 times now but what i really like to repeat is that i want to have the least number of flags possible and so we should try to create those lists you talk about, "with HD install" is not used yet.

used flags similar to your suggestion:
Code:
datfile , flag , times
'Atari ST - Games - [ST]', 'HD install', 2
'Atari ST - Games - [ST]', 'HD install disks', 1
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'HD installer', 2
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'WB, HD installer', 1
(don't know if they have anything to do with what you said)

More info flags containing "HD" in amiga games adf dat (18):
Code:
datfile , flag , times
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'FD-HD', 106
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'FD-HD, data disk', 2
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'FD-HD, data disk, req. SimCity v1.2', 7
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'HD', 488
'Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]', 'HD installer', 2
