New nearly-Psygnosis game is coming...
As mentioned by me a few times on this board in the past, Indigo was a platform game that we (at Psygnosis) took on-board sometime around 1992-1993. It was very close to completion (the ST version was finished) and was unfortunately canned, never to be released. The reasons are largely unknown, I can only speculate about it being around the time of the Sony buyout. I can't remember the reason given to me at the time.
It was a good game, especially some of the later levels that are really well designed, and certainly a lot better from some of the utter tat we released in the years thereafter. I managed to track down the author, Stephane Belin, who also created Outzone, released by Lanhkor. He's posted off one of the original Amiga disks to me so that I can make an ADF of it for use in UAE, and hopefully let some people actually play and enjoy the game. I expect it will arrive in a couple of days time. |

Ah ok. His artwork does seem to be very Coleman like IMO.
Which of course can only be a good thing |

Dont suppose you could also enquire for the Atari ST version as well? A lot of people would be thankful. Personally I'm enjoying ST games on the PSP. You can get 30+ disks on Sony's tight-wad free 32Mb card!!!

I doubt that ST is 100% accurate on any platform.

Hopefully Stephane himself will make an appearance here soon and can answer questions directly...

Indigo
Hi everyone
First many thanks to Mike who encouraged me to let go Indigo. It was something in my mind since a few years but I've never really liked to look back. Anyway, as for the graphics, you're definitely right. Mark Coleman and Dan Malone were my heroes at the time. I was pretty young and I was overly influenced by them . My excuse though is that this incredibly obvious influence appears only in a couple of early levels and in a few monsters. As I was builiding the game, I was also slowly getting my own style. I hope they'll forgive me. Yes I've got the ST version which is actually completed at 100%. I believe the Amiga version lacks of the ending screen. I have the same problem than with the Amiga though. In order to send a Disk to someone, I have to make a copy first but I can't fire up my old PAL st as I live in the Canada. oops. I plan to order some kind of converter or a multisystem TV. |

Ok, well if before we release the Amiga version, I'm quite sure I can rip the end screen from the ST version so the Amiga version at least has some kind of ending.

And finally, it arrives!
Why did we never release it? It's very addictive. I've transferred the disk to ADF format and pointed Stephane to it, leaving it up to him as to what he wants to do with it. Meanwhile, here are some screeenshots: |
